4 NON BLONDES: ANNOUNCE NEW LIVE SHOWS, NEW ALBUM IN THE WORKS

by MythofRock

The Linda Perry-led 4 Non Blondes reunited this year for their first proper shows since 1994, and the momentum continues. The band has announced two intimate club dates — Dec. 15 at the Roxy in Los Angeles and Dec. 17 at the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco — with a brand-new album also in the works for next year.

“4 Non Blondes have had a blast playing these incredible festivals, but honestly, we’re excited to get back into the clubs,” Perry tells SPIN. “That’s where every band starts. It’s where you learn which songs resonate, how to handle mistakes, how to read the room — and most of all, the audience gets a closer sense of who you are in that setting.”

Perry, bassist Christa Hillhouse, and former touring members Dawn Richardson and Roger Rocha came together for four festival appearances earlier this year, their first shows since a one-off 2014 benefit in Los Angeles. The reunion featured new songs like “Don’t Wanna,” “Drop the Bomb,” and “Monomorphic” — fresh material intended for the long-awaited follow-up to their 1992 debut Bigger, Better, Faster, More!.

Best known for the grunge-era anthem “What’s Up?” — a global hit with more than 1.18 billion streams on Spotify — Perry has since built a stellar career as a songwriter and producer for artists like Christina Aguilera, Pink, Gwen Stefani, and Alicia Keys.

“Playing with 4 Non Blondes feels fun in a way it never quite did before,” Perry says. “I’ve been behind the scenes for too long. Now I want to step forward again as an artist. I’m open to the possibilities I’ve created around me. I manifest things all the time”.
