ZACHARY BAKER: RELEASED DEBUT SOLO SINGLE (“DARK HORSE”)

by MythofRock

Zacky Vengeance, founding member and guitarist of multi-platinum rock giants AVENGED SEVENFOLD, has unveiled his debut solo single, “Dark Horse”, released under his real name, Zachary Baker. The 44-year-old musician has also confirmed that a full-length album is in the works and expected to arrive “soon”.

“Dark Horse” weaves Baker’s heartfelt storytelling with Americana textures, marking a bold departure from his hard rock roots and introducing him as a songwriter confidently forging his own identity.

Beneath the surface lies the story of a punk rock kid shaped by a lifetime on the road — a journey that starts with a slightly out-of-tune guitar and an urgent need to speak his truth. Swapping distortion for dust and grit, Baker claims his own space within the alt-country realm. Guided by a restless spirit and the outlaw icons who inspired him, the song unfolds as a raw, unfiltered confession.

Raised in Olympia, Washington, Zacky was immersed early in punk and metal. He began playing guitar at a young age, drawing inspiration from bands such as METALLICA and MISFITS. His first instrument, a hand-me-down from his father, became the foundation on which he sharpened his skills and developed the distinctive style that would define his career.

As a founding force behind AVENGED SEVENFOLD, Zacky has been integral to shaping the band’s identity. His rhythm guitar playing locks seamlessly with Synyster Gates’ lead work, forming a formidable partnership that has produced many of modern metal’s most iconic riffs and solos.

Beyond the stage, Zacky is recognized for his passion for tattoo art and his role in the Vengeance University clothing brand. He is also a vocal supporter of animal rights and frequently uses his public profile to champion charitable and humanitarian initiatives.
