It is psychedelic, cosmic and fuzz-laden. A heavy trip, a fiery dream, a mesmerizing thunder, which strikes at midnight. “I Like to Feel Good”, the latest single from the new album of Tombstones In Their Eyes, “Asylum Harbour”, sounds like a trip to the stars and back. Tombstones In Their Eyes embark on a journey over an ocean of slumber, sail on the waters of oblivion and get lost in the labyrinth of the subconscious. This track is a swirling amalgamation of cosmic exploration, fuzz-drenched sonics and introspective melancholy. Yes, the collective from Los Angeles may sing “I like to feel good”, but the result is bittersweet and moody. They invite listeners into a textured soundscape reminiscent of uncharted galaxies. You could say that this is pure space rock – just like a modern, slower version of Hawkwind. As Tombstones In Their Eyes perform “I Like to Feel Good”, we get in the middle of a maelstrom of fog and light. The repeated lyrics, the chaotic and ethereal vocals, the sleepy guitars and the steady drumming, all are parts of a hypnotic anthem. It feels like the soundtrack to a midnight reverie, where dreams and reality blur together. Tombstones In Their Eyes have crafted a piece that transcends the typical boundaries of psychedelic rock, offering an immersive sensory experience. I didn’t know this band, but this single makes me write down their name in my agenda. With a note that I definitely should listen to their whole album!
