SWARM EFFECT – “COTARD’S SYNDROME” (2024)

by MythofRock

Swarm Effect come from Ukraine, consist of Denys Burlaka (guitars) and Ilya Shapovalov (vocals),  and “Cotard’s Syndrome” is their debut album. And it is true that I was thrilled by this great release! We are talking about a death metal maelstrom , a death metal cataclysm, which leaves only ruins behind. From the first track, “Personal Hell”, we live Swarm Effect’s chaotic death metal  experience: twisted guitars, sick  vocals, frenetic drums, speedy tempos, groovy parts, huge riffs and crazy solos. I don’t think that there is somebody, who may be bored with this album. “Cotard’s Syndrome” is a death metal punch, which will shock you – just push play and the attack begins. One great song follows the other and the two musicians unleash the death metal beast. We must also emphasize the existential lyrics of the songs, which refer to human issues, conditions and problems. This combination of music and lyrics makes this debut a killer one. “Lilith”, “The Chosen Ones” and “Ocean of Lies” are just some examples of a phenomenal album. With this debut, Swarm Effect shout out loud that they are here, ready to take the world by storm! I think that “Cotard’s Syndrome” is just the beginning! Death metal hell is here! Are you ready to face the music?
