Robin Ross & The TW Howlers have just released their new EP titled “Back to the Forest”, and the title track has already been picked as one of the video singles from this great release. This song was a really pleasant surprise for me. From the very first seconds, I could feel the retro, old-school vibe coming through loud and clear. It’s like stepping into a time machine and landing straight in the early ’70s. The song blends classic rock, boogie and blues rock in a way that sounds nostalgic and refreshingly new. The overall mood reminded me of legendary bands like Atomic Rooster and Savoy Brown—the kind of music that makes you want to take a road trip with the windows down and the volume up. Robin Ross plays his electric guitar with a soft, gentle touch, full of feeling and melody. He doesn’t go over the top, but every note counts and tells its own story. TW Howell’s vocals fit perfectly—smooth, soulful and totally in tune with that vintage rock ’n’ roll spirit. He honestly sounds like a singer pulled straight out of a smoky late-’60s club. The mixing and mastering are also worth mentioning. The production is clean and natural, not too polished, so that every instrument gets its own space and breathes freely. The rhythm section is simple and organic, letting the song flow naturally without too many effects or tricks. “Back to the Forest” is a song that feels honest, passionate and full of love for the golden days of rock. A real hidden gem.
