PRIMUS has unveiled the official music video for “The Ol’ Grizz”, directed by Cage Claypool. The track appears on the band’s “A Handful Of Nuggs” EP, which was released in May.
“The Ol’ Grizz” is one of the first studio tracks to showcase drummer John Hoffman. On the song, Les Claypool, Larry LaLonde and Hoffman display the signature rhythmic interplay that has become synonymous with PRIMUS, blending rapid-fire bass lines, psychedelic soundscapes and dynamic drumming into the band’s distinctive fusion of technical mastery and unconventional groove.
In addition to “The Ol’ Grizz”, A Handful Of Nuggs includes PRIMUS’s rendition of DIO’s classic “Holy Diver”, featuring guest vocals from Puddles Pity Party. The EP also contains two standout tracks from the band’s recent live repertoire: “Little Lord Fentanyl”, with a guest appearance by Maynard James Keenan of TOOL, and “Duchess (And The Proverbial Mind Spread)”, captured live at the Mann Music Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Puddles Pity Party is the singing clown persona of Michael Geier.
