NEVARIS – “NINTH SUN – LIVE” (2026, SINGLE, NOLEJ RECORDS)

by MythofRock

Nevaris is the project of Agustín Nevaris, the percussionist from Manhattan, USA, and “SoundSession” is the EP, which documents the collaboration of Agustín Nevaris, famous bassist Bill Laswell and a nine-piece ensemble. This live recorded EP contains the jamming of all these musicians, who improvised on the context of music previously written by Nevaris and Bill Laswell. “Ninth Sun – Live” is an excerpt from these rock, dub, Afro-Latin rhythms, funk and turntablism interpretations. This track is raw, loose and sweaty in the best possible way, the kind of live performance you don’t just hear but feel in your chest and bones. Right from the first moments, the Afro-Latin pulse grabs you and refuses to let go. The percussion is front and center, warm and hypnotic, pushing everything forward with a deep, almost spiritual rhythm. Dub textures float around the groove, while  rock and funk sneak in through thick basslines and sharp guitar stabs. Nothing feels forced or overthought — it’s all about the flow, the interaction and that magical moment when musicians lock in and let instinct do the talking. The real beauty of “Ninth Sun – Live” is how organic it sounds. You can tell this wasn’t chopped up or polished to death. Every note breathes. The band stretches out, reacts to each other in real time, and that’s where the track really shines. DJ Logic’s turntable touches add flavor without stealing the spotlight, while the rhythm section keeps everything grounded. There’s a strong jam-session vibe, but it never turns messy or self-indulgent. Instead, it builds and evolves naturally, pulling you deeper into its trance-like atmosphere. It’s soulful, earthy and deeply human — the exact opposite of sterile music. “Ninth Sun – Live” is a reminder of why live music is still important. “Ninth Sun – Live” features killer musicians, locked into a groove, creating something honest and powerful. If this is the energy of “SoundSession”, then Nevaris has clearly come into heat!
