Terrible news for all music fans. Mark Lanegan, Screaming Trees frontman and member of Queens of the Stone Age, has died. He was only 57 years old. His passing was confirmed by his publicist on Tuesday, February 22, 2022: “Our beloved friend Mark Lanegan passed away this morning at his home in Killarney, Ireland,” the publicist’s statement read. “A beloved singer, songwriter, author and musician, he was 57 and is survived by his wife Shelley. No other information is available at this time. The family asks everyone to respect their privacy at this time.”
Lanegan was a renowned musician, one of the true pioneers of alternative rock music, whose works stand as an incomparable grunge legacy.
