With Korn being the fathers of nu metal who have taken the industry by a storm over their thirty years of presence, it was only to be expected that their show in Athens would be unforgettable. The virtuosos of nu joined forces with Planet Of Zeus, Loathe and Spiritbox to make a banger of a first night for Ejekt Festival on the 22nd of July, 2024.

It was a scalding hot Monday as we were getting ready to enter the festival area, where thousands of people were already waiting. With the necessary checks to enter the concert done, we headed to the front of the stage to start off our journey.
First up were Athenian groovers Planet Of Zeus, who got us in the mood immediately. With their incredible energy, excellent musical skills and groove packed attitudes, they undoubtedly were a big hit with the crowd. They thanked people for coming and the chants grew louder and louder, as the band echoed all throughout Athens.
Second were English nu metal sensations Loathe, playing their very first show in Greece. To say that they gave a good show would be an understatement. Kadeem was excellent on vocals, showcasing his pure power on growls as well as cleans. The instruments emitted pure emotions, making this for a powerful journey through the second band of Ejekt’s lineup.
Following were Canadian metallers Spiritbox with their gorgeous yet haunting vocals. Courtney was incredible, showcasing her powerhouse level singing skills and the instruments accompanying her were masterful. The band got the crowd so worked up that they started to chant Spiritbox in between every single song. The atmosphere was so full of glee, but this was only just the beginning.
Korn’s set was still being built, as they brought led screens, their own signature drum set , mic stand and so on , we were having a moment, thinking of how amazing it will be and how glad we are to finally be able to see Korn. A countdown followed and the lights were out, the feelings electric. The first notes were heard and immediately, we knew that this would be one of the most epic shows we’d seen. The always gorgeous Korn made the stage their own song by song, note by note. Jonathan was incredible, the band gave it their all. This is what they were made for. They showed us why in their thirty years of work, they have and will continue to be one of the most awe inducing bands of their genre. Screaming, moshpits and chants were all present, especially in songs like “Blind”, “Twist” and “Y’all Want a Single”. “Shoots And Ladders” was played later on and Jonathan made his appearance with bagpipes, wowing everyone. Sneaking covers of famous tracks like “We Will Rock You” by Queen and “One” by Metallica in the middle of their own tracks and picking up right where they left off, they prove to us once again just how incredibly talented they are. I must say my personal favorite part of the night was “Falling Away From Me’, due to how special it feels. The lights dimmed and a glorious feeling took over. This is Korn and their legacy, always there. This night will truly never be forgotten.
