ZZ Top legendary bassist, Dusty Hill, has passed away at the age of 72.
The news was revealed by the band, which released the following official statement: “We are saddened by the news today that our Compadre, Dusty Hill, has passed away in his sleep at home in Houston, TX. We, along with legions of ZZ TOP fans around the world, will miss your steadfast presence, your good nature and enduring commitment to providing that monumental bottom to the ‘Top’. We will forever be connected to that ‘Blues Shuffle in C.’ You will be missed greatly, amigo”.
ZZ Top played without Hill last Friday night (July 23) at the Village Commons in New Lenox, Illinois after he was forced to return to Texas to address a hip issue. On July 21, ZZ Top canceled its concert in Evansville, Indiana because of a “health issue within the band”. Dusty Hill and the other two members of ZZ Top were working on the band’s 16th album.
The music world is poorer now. Goodbye, Mr. Hill. Rest in Peace.
