Anorimoi need no special introduction. Without a doubt, they are currently the leading Greek band in satirical heavy metal, and one of the finest acts in the international metal scene, brilliantly combining heavy metal music with a sharp and refined sense of humor. “Τερατογένεση” is their latest offering, and once again they manage to make us laugh ourselves to death. On one hand, there are outstandingly funny, dirty lyrics in Greek; on the other, there’s powerful, melodic metal backing them up. The result is a perfect collection of great songs packed with successful jokes, razor-sharp guitars, a thick and solid rhythm section, and of course divine vocals that bring to mind the late Tzimis Panousis. The Greek comedy metallers have crafted a delightfully insane work, supported by tremendous production that will thrill anyone daring enough to give it a spin. This high-caliber production more than achieves its goal: to make us laugh from the heart while getting fired up by the catchy riffs, intense melodies and clever arrangements. That’s what music is all about — having a great time, enjoying ourselves, gaining strength and energy, and looking toward the future with a positive mindset. With an album like this in their hands, Anorimoi can — and should — taste major success. Still, I believe the band members would be satisfied even if they manage to make just a few people smile. “Τερατογένεση” is a distinctive metal album patiently waiting to be discovered, so that we all laugh and bang our head at the same time. Highly recommended — I’d even say it’s essential to experience this unique ride.
