TRIVIUM have released the title track from their upcoming album, “Crown In The Grave”. The song gradually builds through layers of riffs before erupting into a powerful wall of metal, combining crushing heaviness with the precision, melody and technical intensity that have characterized the band for more than 20 years. “Crown In The Grave” delivers classic TRIVIUM elements, from galloping riffs and fiery guitar solos to hard-hitting drums and multi-layered vocals. At the same time, the track expands on the band’s established identity, staying true to their signature sound while pushing it into new and unexplored sonic territory.

The accompanying post-apocalyptic music video, inspired by Japanese Noh theater, brings the album’s artwork and themes to life inside a smoke-filled dojo, where the central characters prepare for an approaching confrontation through a series of tense and atmospheric scenes. Reflecting the band’s longstanding fascination with traditional Japanese theater and martial arts, the video emphasizes the discipline, drama and physical intensity that shape the song’s narrative.

“‘Crown In The Grave’ is our eleventh record, and when you get this far into a career, it’s easy to rest on what you’ve already done — or to reinvent yourself just for the sake of it,” says Gregoletto. “With this record, we wanted to find the space between those two things: Take everything we’ve learned and everything that makes TRIVIUM what it is, but present it in ways we hadn’t before.”

He continues: “We also wanted the record to exist within its own world. That began with the title track, inspired by Akira Kurosawa’s ‘Throne Of Blood’, and led us deeper into Japanese horror and cinema from the ’50s, ’60s, and ’70s. That influence grew into this darker, ghostly atmosphere that became a set of guardrails for the music, lyrics, artwork, and overall identity of the record”.

The bassist finishes: “We built our studio so we could give ourselves the time and space to figure out exactly what an eleventh TRIVIUM record should be, and ‘Crown In The Grave’ is the answer we arrived at. It honors where we’ve been without living in the past, and pushes into new territory without abandoning what makes us TRIVIUM. I think when you hear it, it’ll somehow feel both new and like a return”.

Though it features just three tracks, Struck Dead delivers a massive impact — true to TRIVIUM’s signature style — with crushing riffs and the powerful blend of clean and harsh vocals that have defined the band’s nearly 30-year career. The EP was produced by TRIVIUM themselves and recorded alongside Mark Lewis at their own Hangar Studios in Orlando, Florida, with mixing and mastering handled by Josh Wilbur.

TRIVIUM has also unveiled the official video for the first single, “Bury Me With My Screams.” The track premiered on Matthew Heafy’s Chaos Hour show on SiriusXM Liquid Metal and is set to make its live debut during the band’s headlining performance at this Friday’s Bloodstock Open Air festival. Check out the music video below.

“In 2023, we decided it was finally time to take the next step with The Hangar space we purchased — it was time to turn it into a full studio,” says Gregoletto. “We brought in designer Roger D’Arcy, thanks to an introduction from Mark Lewis, and set out on a year-long build. While construction was underway, we were deep in rehearsals for ‘The Poisoned Ascendancy’ tour, celebrating ‘Ascendancy”s 20th anniversary. What started as an idea to release one single during the tour quickly grew into two, then three, as we kept writing while we were waiting for the build-out to be completed.”

He continues: “During that time, the energy of revisiting ‘Ascendancy’ started bleeding into these new songs. Matt poured a lot of his personal struggles from the past year into the music, and we used the writing process as a cathartic release. Those sessions evolved into a three-song EP that we’re incredibly proud of, and we can’t wait to debut ‘Bury Me With My Screams’ live at Bloodstock Open Air festival.”
