At the crossroads of shoegaze, dream pop and indie/alt rock, Soft Science return with “Understand”, a bright and atmospheric new single that stays true to the band’s magical sound, offering a glimmer of hope. The track is a strong example of how the band can combine catchy melodies with rich textures and a clear emotional feeling. From the beginning, “Understand” creates a warm and uplifting atmosphere. The influence of Lush can be felt in its shimmering guitars, beautiful harmonies and ethereal vocals. However, Soft Science do not simply copy their influences. They use these elements to create something that sounds modern, personal and full of character. The guitars are one of the strongest parts of the song. The combination of twin 12-string guitars gives the music a beautiful quality, while the bass and drums provide a steady and energetic foundation. Synthesizers add extra layers to the arrangement, making the track feel larger without taking away from its melodic focus. Also, the vocals take you on a melodic and poetic journey. What makes “Understand” especially effective is its balance between beauty and emotion. There is a sense of optimism running through the song, but it never becomes too sweet or simple. Instead, the music suggests that hope can exist even when life and relationships are complicated. “Understand” shows why Soft Science have developed a strong identity within the modern shoegaze, dream pop and indie/alt rock scene. Their music is accessible, because of its memorable melodies, but there is enough detail in the arrangements to reward repeated listening. As a preview of their upcoming album “Sand”, “Understand” is a very promising release. Dreamy and uplifting, it is a beautiful track that should appeal to fans of Lush and atmospheric indie and alternative music.

Lowsunday keep our interest alive, this time with the release of their “You’re So Wired” single from their “Low Sunday Ghost Machine – Black EP”. What do we have here? Once again, top-class darkwave (and not only that) from a band that deserves great recognition from an artistic point of view. In ‘You’re So Wired”, the band creates a strange, shadowy atmosphere, mixing darkwave, shoegaze and alternative rock in a very natural and inspired way. The guitars shine with beautiful, hazy textures, while the steady rhythm gives the track a strong pulse and keeps everything moving forward. There is something bright and playful here, but underneath the surface, you can easily feel tension, confusion and emotional instability. This contrast is probably the strongest element of “You’re So Wired”. The vocals of Shane Sahene fit the music perfectly, sounding detached, cool and mysterious, as if he is singing from somewhere between reality and a dream. The production is superb, crystal-clear but never sterile, allowing the guitars, synths and rhythms to breathe and create their own space. Lowsunday clearly know how to build atmosphere, and their long experience can be heard in every detail. However, “You’re So Wired” doesn’t sound like a band simply looking back at its past. On the contrary, it feels fresh, modern and full of creative energy. Dreamy, slightly punky, melancholic and uplifting at the same time, this single is a wonderful example of how shoegaze and darkwave can still sound exciting today. Lowsunday have delivered a beautiful, vivid song that invites you to lose yourself in its colorful world!

Deardarkhead, the New Jersey instrumental alt-rock outfit, present the single “Letting Go”, off their new album “The Pendulum Swings”, their first full-length album in 25 years! “Letting Go” is a perfect example of what Deardarkhead are all about – a smart, emotional, evocative and honest fusion of alt-rock, shoegaze, dream pop and post-rock! The song begins with its steady drums and luminous, nostalgic guitars, which play the leading role in this guitar-oriented composition. It is like a travel companion while you are driving down the highway, like background music while you are working at home, like the soundtrack to a beautiful, adventurous life! Deardarkhead know how to take you on a distant, mysterious, misty ride, whether in the city or in the countryside. I personally didn’t know what to expect when I read the press info about this single, but when I pressed play, I understood why this song is described as an immersive experience – a song that you live, not just hear! The production is very clear and expressive, helping the musicians tell their story through beautiful notes. Don’t expect something progressive or avant-garde, although their mindset is certainly sophisticated. Deardarkhead have crafted a delicate song that speaks to both the mind and the heart. There is no way you will get bored with their musical story. If “The Pendulum Swings” is anything like this first single, then we are dealing with truly enchanting music, full of grace and richness! I liked it!

Lowsunday return with “This Is Not Heaven”, a single off their new release, the “Low Sunday Ghost Machine – Black EP”, and you feel like they never really left us. After more than two decades of inactivity and silence, the Pittsburgh duo sound refreshed, inspired and modern, while still holding tightly to the dreamy identity that made them special in the first place. The track immediately pulls you into its dark atmosphere. There is a cold quality in the opening moments, with layers of guitar effects creating that classic shoegaze haze, but there is also something sharper underneath: the bassline drives the song forward with purpose, while the synths give the chorus a cinematic weight. It feels nostalgic, but not dated. It is melancholic, but you will discover a strange brightness inside the sadness, especially when the chorus opens up. That contrast gives the track real emotional depth. Nothing feels forced or overproduced. Shane Sahene’s vocals fit perfectly into the mix. They are soft and distant enough to blend into the atmosphere, yet clear enough to carry the emotion of the lyrics. The guitar work is another big highlight. The asymmetrical lead parts create tension, the same time that the melodic rhythm section keeps everything grounded and memorable. There is a confidence here that only comes from a band who truly know their sound. Lowsunday are not chasing trends or trying to recreate the past. They are simply building on what they always did well and proving that their craft still matters in 2026. I am sure we will all be excited with the content of the full EP!

“Love Language” is one of the songs, one of the emotional pillars of “White EP”, and it perfectly captures what lowsunday have always done best: turning isolation into atmosphere. After decades away from releasing new material, the band comes back and sounds focused, mature and surprisingly interesting. Built on a steady post-punk pulse, the song balances shadow and shimmer. The bassline moves with quiet confidence, locking into a stripped-down drum beat that feels mechanical yet human. Layers of guitar drift in and out, sometimes sharp and cutting, other times dissolving into hazy shoegaze textures. Subtle synth lines add depth without softening the mood too much. Vocally, Shane Sahene delivers with restraint. There’s no dramatic overreach, just a calm, almost detached tone that makes the emotion hit harder. The lyrics explore emotional distance and the frustration of speaking without truly being understood. It’s classic lowsunday territory — longing wrapped in cool minimalism. What makes “Love Language” stand out is its control. It never explodes into chaos, even when the guitars lean toward feedback and noise. Fans of Joy Division’s stark emotional tension or Molchat Doma’s cold wave melancholy will immediately connect with its atmosphere, while the swirling textures nod gently toward shoegaze influences like Catherine Wheel. If anything, the song proves that lowsunday haven’t lost their instinct for melody. Beneath the drones and shadows, there’s a strong hook that lingers long after the final note fades. “Love Language” is immersive, brooding and quietly powerful, haunting listeners with understated intensity and emotional depth.

There’s something magical about Tombstones In Their Eyes and their new, “Under Dark Skies” album. Plenty of bands operate within the wide spectrum of psychedelic rock, but Tombstones In Their Eyes clearly stand apart; their songs swirl, forming a powerful whirlwind that pulls the listener deep into a vast, ever-shifting kaleidoscope of sound and emotion. Each track on “Under Dark Skies” feels like a magic carpet ride, lifting you effortlessly and carrying you across magnificent landscapes far above the clouds. It’s a fuzz-laden paradise, drenched in reverb that slowly absorbs you into its hazy embrace. Tombstones In Their Eyes don’t rely on bombast or volume to make an impact. On the contrary, the Los Angeles–based outfit works quietly and confidently, operating in that sweet spot between melody and atmosphere. “Under Dark Skies” sits comfortably at the crossroads of classic psychedelia, shoegaze and alternative rock. While echoes of the past are certainly present, this is far from a retro exercise. There’s a distinctly modern sensibility woven into the songs, making the album feel relevant and alive rather than nostalgic for nostalgia’s sake. It’s a record that respects its influences while carving out its own space in the contemporary rock landscape. Emotionally, the album is rich and nuanced. “Under Dark Skies” carries a bittersweet tone throughout, existing in the point where joy and melancholy collide. Moments of warmth are often shadowed by introspection, giving the music a depth that rewards repeated listens. This ability to balance light and dark emotions is one of the album’s greatest strengths, lending it an almost cinematic quality. Sonically, the album sounds warm and organic, yet unmistakably otherworldly. Colorful vocals intertwine beautifully with vibrant, shimmering guitars, forming the backbone of the record. The band’s signature sound is fully realized here — confident, cohesive and instantly recognizable. Ultimately, “Under Dark Skies” is an immersive and captivating experience. It slowly overwhelms you in the best possible way, leading to a rare, beautiful state that lingers long after notes fade.

Thirty years since its release, “Low Sunday Ghost Machine” still sounds like a beautifully haunted transmission from another time — and this newly remastered anniversary edition only sharpens its emotional pull. Lowsunday’s debut album has always lived in that sweet spot where post-punk tension, shoegaze haze and dreampop melancholy blur into something timeless, and hearing it now with renewed clarity feels less like nostalgia and more like rediscovery. The remaster gives the original nine tracks extra space to breathe. Songs like “So Far Away” and “For A Moment” shimmer with a quiet intensity, while “Static” and “Blast” crackle with that nervous, guitar-driven urgency that defined so much great ‘90s alternative music. The layered guitars feel richer, the synths more atmospheric and Shane Sahene’s vocals still carry that bittersweet ache that made the album such a slow-burn classic in the first place. Yet, there is also expanded material in this reissue. The bonus tracks and 2025 electro mixes don’t feel like last minute additions — they genuinely deepen the album’s world. Reimagined versions like “Innocence” and “For A Moment” bridge past and future effortlessly, adding a subtle mechanical pulse without sacrificing the human vulnerability at the core of Lowsunday’s sound. There’s a sense throughout this release that the band has come full circle, reconnecting with their original vision while letting it evolve naturally. “Low Sunday Ghost Machine” remains a defining statement — melancholic, melodic and quietly powerful — and this remastered edition confirms its place as a cult classic that still resonates strongly in today’s darkwave and shoegaze landscapes.

“For A Moment” has always been one of those tracks that you never forget and stay with you, long after the last listen. With the 2025 remaster, Lowsunday brings the song back into the light, restoring its emotional weight while also giving it a fresh clarity that highlights just how timeless their sound is. This track sits at the intersection of post-punk and dreamy shoegaze atmosphere, but what stands out most is the emotional pulse. Shane Sahene’s vocals are intimate and introspective — fragile but clear. He doesn’t oversing; instead, he lets the lyrics breathe. The guitars shimmer in a slow, layered haze, moving like a memory you’re trying to hold onto. The percussion is steady and controlled, letting the song expand and contract naturally, like a heartbeat. The remaster sharpens everything that was already beautiful in the original recording. The guitars feel warmer, the bass sits deeper and the vocals have a little more space to unfold. Yet nothing feels modernized in the wrong way, the track still lives in that era of mid-90s alternative melancholy, where emotion and atmosphere were more important than loudness. This version gives “For A Moment” new life. It sounds like a message from the past, but it fits perfectly into the present. For fans of bands like Slowdive, The Chameleons, or early Radiohead, this track scratches that familiar itch — romantic, dark, and reflective, but never too dramatic. “For A Moment (electro mix 2025)” proves that Lowsunday had something real from the start, and that some songs don’t just age well, they grow.

Colorado-based post punk/shoegaze outfit A Shoreline Dream are inviting us again to a new journey to distant soundscapes. Their eighth record to date, “Whitelined” is the soundtrack of dreams, the melody of thoughts, the ticket to other dimensions. In this album, particularly in three songs, A Shoreline Dream collaborates with Ride’s Mark Gardener, whose participation elevates the final result even higher. The album begins with a dreamy, otherworldly composition, the title track, which shows the intentions of the band. Then, we have “Everything Turns”, a truly lovely song, which has memorable vocal lines and melodies, woven into a web of sounds and feelings. “Fear” is a manifest of post punk/shoegaze, since the post punk sound of the band is combined successfully with psychedelia and space rock. Then we go to “Falling Back to Reality”, which is like a new wave band plays in a 80s progressive/art rock style. “Written in Dust”, with Gardener again as special guest, is a smart post punk meets pop composition, multi-layered and varied, with lush instrumentation and intricate arrangement. After the small, beautiful instrumental “A Spark”, comes “A Simple Path of Destruction”, which is again a fine musical trip to the stars, with its spacey synths, the delicate guitars and the nostalgic vocals. “Lost of the Words” is a proggy, otherworldly track, with brilliant guitar work, protagonistic bass lines and drum kicks. The album ends in the best way with two nice songs, “The Dream” (it feels like the post rock sound of the vast universe) and “Hollow Crown” (Mark Gardener’s here again), which is like Porcupine Tree went high and got lost in a shoegaze dreaminess! “Whitelined” is a great album to hear, indeed the music we listen in our dreams. You have to live this experience!
