Released just ahead of BEAST IN BLACK’s highly anticipated headline tour, which kicks off in London on October 26, “Lost Children” is an epic power ballad that showcases the band’s grandiose sound. Continuing the group’s long-standing creative connection with the iconic manga series “Berserk”, the track features a phenomenal vocal performance by frontman Yannis Papadopoulos, who takes his soaring and dramatic vocals to new heights.

To match the song’s epic scale, the band has once again teamed up with award-winning director Katri Ilona Koppanen to create a breathtaking, cinematic music video that captures the track’s grandeur and emotional intensity.

Kabanen explains: “‘Lost Children Chapter’ is one of my absolute favorite parts of ‘Berserk’ manga, if not my favorite. It had an enormous impact on me when I first read it, some 20 years ago, and ever since I wanted to write songs (or at least one!) about it. I wanted to find my own way to tell this important, tragic and heart-wrenching story, while staying true to its delicate child-like purity and meaningful core.

“What makes the story so powerful is its emotional complexity. Children are generally seen as innocent and pure, and in many ways they are also victims of their circumstances. Rosine (girl from the story) is a particularly fascinating example of this contradiction. She becomes the antagonist and commits genuinely terrible acts, yet deep down, she isn’t inherently evil. She’s a vulnerable child who has been pushed into a tragic situation.

“When the God Hand (from ‘Berserk’) offers someone a way out of unimaginable suffering, it’s difficult to say how most people would respond. You can understand why Rosine makes the choices she does without necessarily being able to forgive what she does. That’s what makes the story emotionally turbulent. You experience anger, horror, sadness and compassion, sometimes almost simultaneously. By the end, there’s a sense of emotional absolution, because you realise that the character you’ve been fighting against is also a victim herself. It’s not a straightforward story of good versus evil. The emotions are contradictory, and that’s precisely why it’s so deeply moving.

“I wish to add that with Katri’s visual and emotional storytelling abilities she created a beautiful, unique, layered and the most soulful BEAST IN BLACK music video to date, which connects to a human heart and reminds us how fragile it is, and yet so sincerely hopeful in its innocent core. We all have been children, we all are someone’s children, some of us have children. And we all are drawn to that warm light glowing softly in the window called home”.

Reimagined as if performed around the hearth of a Viking longhouse, “Upphaf” weaves hypnotic melodies, haunting vocal harmonies, and a deeply immersive atmosphere. Its minimalist arrangement evokes the solemnity of ancient oral traditions, echoing stories told beneath the watchful gaze of the Allfather. The song demonstrates that the band’s fascination with Odin and Norse mythology resonates just as powerfully in an intimate acoustic setting as it does on the grand stages they command around the world.

Serving as a calm before the storm, “Upphaf” offers a striking glimpse of what is to come, setting the stage for the arrival of AMON AMARTH’s next studio album.

Produced by Jacob Hansen, “Upphaf” is out now via Metal Blade Records on all major digital streaming and download platforms. The single is accompanied by an official music video directed by Pavel Trebukhin.

Jon Schaffer, the founder, chief songwriter, and driving force behind iconic heavy metal acts ICED EARTH, DEMONS & WIZARDS, SONS OF LIBERTY, JON SCHAFFER’S PURGATORY and the SCHAFFER/BARLOW project, has released the official DazVideos-created music video for “Molon Labe” from his recently issued reimagining of his most unflinching work. Jon Schaffer’s “Sons Of Liberty – Thought Crimes (Volumes 1 & 2)” is a bold new mix that fuses the raw essence of the “Brush-fires Of The Mind” LP (2009) and the “Spirit Of The Times” EP (2011),breathing fresh life into a message that has proven eerily prophetic in an era of escalating world challenges. The track presents a historical look at defiance and individual liberty. It is the second music video off the new album, following the release of “Full Spectrum Dominance”.

For more on the single, Brink offers, “With ‘Sleeping with the Enemy’ and our upcoming album, we’re confronting the darkness — whether it’s inside us or external. It’s about looking that darkness in the face and transforming it into empowerment. We feel so exhilarated and ready to show the world what we’ve conjured up.”

“Sleeping With the Enemy” and the previously released “Heretic” (feat. Kim Dracula), mark the first tastes of the band’s upcoming, as-yet-untitled ninth album and debut for Better Noise Music. More details will be announced in due course.

Elsewhere, Brink also features on the current Eva Under Fire single “Villainous,” which is climbing towards Top 10 at active rock radio.

Since coming to life in 2005, IN THIS MOMENT have presided over a diehard fan base under the watch of “mother” figure and aforementioned Brink — joined by co-founder and lead guitarist Chris Howorth, bassist Travis Johnson, guitarist Randy Weitzel, and drummer Kent Diimmel. They have steadily emerged as one of the most influential and impactful bands of the 21st century.

To date, In This Moment has amassed over 2 Billion streams globally. In addition to the Gold-selling album, BLOOD [2012], the quintet has also garnered seven Gold and two Platinum singles, followed by a trifecta of Top 25 entries on the Billboard 200 with BLACK WIDOW [2014], and RITUAL [2017].

Between selling out headline tours coast-to-coast, the group performed in arenas and have appeared at countless festivals from Lollapalooza to Sonic Temple. They assembled their seventh full-length, the aptly titled MOTHER [2020] with longtime trusted collaborator Kevin Churko [Ozzy Osbourne, Five Finger Death Punch]. MOTHER breathed the activating mantra of an unbreakable spell, commenced on first single “The In-Between,” which received a GRAMMY® nomination in 2020 for “Best Metal Performance.”

In 2022, the band released BLOOD 1983 [BMG], a reimagined EP commemorating the ten-year anniversary of BLOOD. Then in 2023, the longtime staples of heavy music released their eighth studio album GODMODE [BMG], a 10-song record featuring the powerful lead single “The Purge,” a stunning cover of Björk’s “Army Of Me,” the collaborative track “Damaged,” which featured Spencer Charnas of Ice Nine Kills, and “I Would Die For You,” which appeared on the soundtrack for John Wick: Chapter 4.

“After coming off the road with SMITH/KOTZEN, I fully intended to take a long break from live performance and recharge creatively” says Richie. “While going through old archives, I rediscovered ‘Catch A Star’ in a semi-completed form and for whatever reason, the direction suddenly became obvious to me in a way it hadn’t before. Once that happens as a writer,” Kotzen continues, “you must trust your instincts and follow the momentum. That’s exactly what happened with this song.”

Performing every instrument on “Catch A Star”, Richie Kotzen taps into his Philadelphia musical roots, blending soaring verses, soulful melodies, and powerful choruses with driving rhythms, while taking both his guitar and bass work into bold and inventive new territory.

“What I love about ‘Catch A Star’ is how direct it is,” says Kotzen. “The chorus arrives immediately, the arrangement stays intentionally simple, and the focus is really on the melody, lyric, and atmosphere. This is also one of those recordings where I handled every instrument and vocal myself, layering each part individually in the studio. In the past, I probably would have held onto a song like this until I had enough material to complete a full album, but these days I feel more inspired by releasing music in real time rather than waiting indefinitely for a larger project to materialize.”

Although there are no immediate touring plans at the moment, Richie Kotzen remains deeply focused on creating new music and wanted to share “Catch A Star” with the fans who have supported him and been part of his musical journey over the years.

“If it eventually leads to a full-length album, great,” states Kotzen, “and if it doesn’t, for now, that’s fine too.”
