On my way to Gagarin 205, I wasn’t sure how many people to expect. Turner certainly has a lot of supporters in Greece, but at a time with so many concerts and quite a few financial difficulties, you never really know in advance whether people will turn up for a particular show. In any case, when I arrived at the venue, quite a few people were waiting to get in, and eventually, just before the show started, Gagarin 205 was almost full!

Turner had a support band, the Greek Birds of Vale. I had seen the band before as part of the Heavy Psych Sounds Festival Greece, and I have to admit that I liked them. They play a mix of hard/heavy rock, southern rock and heavy blues, with guitars going wild, massive riffs and a frontman who has both the voice and the stage presence to give it his all. Well, this time Birds of Vale were even better. They were tight, solid and their sound was very powerful. As it turned out, the Greek band grabbed the opportunity with both hands and presented us with their very interesting songs, winning new fans and leaving plenty of promise for the future. Since they are also set to play a number of shows abroad in the near future, we wish them all the best – although I’m pretty sure they’ll do just fine!

Birds of Vale warmed us up nicely and, just before 10 p.m., we were ready to welcome the great headliner. Joe Lynn Turner didn’t keep us waiting for long! The legendary performer stormed onto the stage with his touring band and got us fired up with Rainbow’s “Death Alley Driver”! The American singer appeared in Greece for the first time without his trademark wig and looked completely liberated. He was in an incredible mood, gave us his all, sang flawlessly with that classic, beloved voice of his, and kept talking to us throughout the show, telling stories, making jokes and sharing positive messages. He was better than any other time we had seen him!!!

And what about the setlist? Absolutely brilliant! He didn’t play any songs from his solo career, focusing exclusively on songs from his days with Rainbow, Deep Purple and Yngwie Malmsteen. He also performed Deep Purple’s “Perfect Strangers” and “Highway Star”, before closing with “Long Live Rock ’n’ Roll” (Rainbow), which included “Black Night” and “Lazy” in a sort of medley.

The musicians backing him up, all members of Swedish heavy metal band Dynazty, were also amazing, incredibly skilled and full of feeling! The sound was fantastic, with all the instruments coming through loud and clear. Everything was in place for Turner to absolutely tear it up! You can imagine that Gagarin 205 was on fire for an hour and a half, with Joe Lynn Turner and all of us having an absolute blast!

After the medley, Joe Lynn Turner and his musicians said goodbye to the crowd in a celebratory atmosphere. Band and fans were equally overwhelmed as we experienced a true hard rock/metal celebration. With his performance and overall presence, Turner silenced the doubters and showed many people what he is still capable of. Never write him off – he is at the top of his game!!

Darkness had already fallen when we arrived outside the Athens venue. The doors had not opened yet, but Blackbriar fans had already started arriving, dressed in black, many of them with a strong gothic aesthetic and clearly impatient for the show to begin. The doors soon opened and we made our way inside, taking a position on the right side of the stage. As time passed, more and more people entered the venue, with the crowd eventually filling half of Fuzz by the time the first band took the stage.

Supporting Blackbriar were the Greek band Oceandvst. The three-piece took the stage at 9 p.m., exactly as scheduled, and started their set in a very warm and positive atmosphere. It did not take Oceandvst long to win the crowd over. They have strong original songs that sound particularly good in a live setting, and they quickly had the audience on their feet. This was one of the best support performances I have seen in Greece in recent years. Yes, Oceandvst have talent, personality, soul and that natural confidence of a band that knows it has what it takes to succeed. Everyone was excited by their songs, their covers of “All the Things She Said” by t.A.T.u. and “Going Under” by Evanescence, as well as their impressive stage presence. Chrysa, in particular, is a true rock persona! We were therefore treated to a fantastic alt-rock/metal band that gave us some great moments before Blackbriar took the stage. The future belongs to Oceandvst!

And so, we reached 10 p.m., when Blackbriar finally took the stage. From the very first notes, the crowd went wild, breaking into cheers and applause. The five musicians, led by Zora Cock, took their places on the spacious stage and launched into a set featuring some of their best songs. Clad in black, Blackbriar unleashed their melodic gothic metal attack, proving that everything people say about them is true. They are genuinely a surprisingly capable band, with fantastic compositions, individual talent, impressive chemistry and a unique vision. They deserve every bit of praise they receive, and they deserve to go high, very high! Zora Cock, wearing a beautiful lace dress, captivated us with her siren-like voice, while the rest of the band gave it everything they had, delivering an excellent performance. On this magnificent night, we watched Blackbriar establish themselves as rising stars of gothic metal, taking us deep into the dark, mysterious waters of their gothic aesthetic. They even brought a loom onto the stage!Their music was like a fairy tale, their lyrics like poetry, and their whole appearance simply enchanting. They really are a highly aspiring band, ready to make their dream come true. Those of us lucky enough to be at Fuzz understood it and believed it! Truly beautiful moments, both for the quintet and for their fans!

Blackbriar played for an hour and a half, giving us an ecstatic live show full of lyricism, magic and dark charm. Overall, it was a truly enjoyable night, with female-fronted rock/metal taking center stage. It is a night we will remember for a long time, and we are already looking forward to seeing both Oceandvst and Blackbriar on stage again!

With all this in mind, we entered Piraeus Club Academy, which quickly filled up—not to capacity, but enough to create a lively atmosphere. The band chosen to open the evening was Black Soul Horde, a group that has earned considerable praise from the Greek metal audience over the past few years. Led by vocalist Jim Kotsis, the band stormed onto the stage, delivering pure, solid and uncompromising heavy/epic metal that immediately grabbed our attention. With several strong albums and a catalog of thoughtfully crafted songs behind them, they had no trouble putting together a highly engaging setlist. Black Soul Horde possess a sophisticated musical approach that demands the listener’s full attention, yet at Piraeus Club Academy they won over the audience with ease. Kotsis’s vocal performance was particularly impressive, reaching consistently high standards throughout the set, while the weeping guitars created a dense and evocative atmosphere with every phrase. Black Soul Horde are a skilled and talented band, and if they continue on this path, they have every chance of making a significant impact on the international metal scene.

Before long, it was time for Raven to make their triumphant appearance. Without unnecessary introductions or overblown theatrics, the British veterans stepped onto the stage and proceeded to tear the place apart. Raven played like men possessed. There is simply no other way to describe it. They were relentless, explosive and absolutely unstoppable. Brothers John Gallagher and Mark Gallagher spent the entire show charging from one side of the stage to the other, running, jumping, shouting, and pouring every ounce of energy into their performance. These are two eternal teenagers, seemingly untouched by time, musicians who have mastered the art of giving everything they have until the very last note. The sound was thunderous, the attitude infectious and the metal they delivered was fast, wild and electrifying. The setlist drew from every era of their career and kept the audience fully engaged, although I personally would have loved to hear my favorite Raven song, “Don’t Need Your Money” in its entirety—sadly, only the main riff made a brief appearance during the guitar solo. The guitar and bass solos were immensely enjoyable, while the medley of “Rock Bottom”, “Victim Of Changes”, “Supernaut”, “Breadfan” and “Children Of The Grave” sent the crowd into a frenzy. The entire performance felt like having a megaton bomb explode right in front of us.

Watching musicians of their age perform with such passion and intensity is genuinely inspiring. There was no arrogance, no narcissism and none of the clichés that often accompany veteran acts—just pure heavy metal delivered with honesty and conviction. Raven stole the show, and we responded by giving them the hero’s welcome they deserved. These are the kinds of concerts we need more of: authentic, unique, utterly unforgettable.

After Raven’s metal onslaught, we were left feeling exhilarated and completely satisfied. We had received exactly what we came for—and then some. This is the kind of metal that makes you feel like a small child on a playground, free from worries, responsibilities and everyday concerns. For a couple of hours, nothing else mattered except the music, the energy and the shared passion of everyone in the room. It was a reminder of why we fell in love with heavy metal in the first place. Thank you, Raven!

Blazon Stone were the first band of the night. Ever since their formation, they have drawn clear inspiration from Running Wild. In fact, this was my first real contact with their music, so I didn’t quite know what to expect. From the very first notes of their set, however, one thing became clear… they have some absolute killer songs! The quintet presented material that, while certainly serving as a tribute to Running Wild, is also highly inspired, expertly crafted and genuinely top-class. Their fast and melodic compositions, packed with drive and soul, soaring vocals and razor-sharp guitars, revealed a remarkably polished and complete band — one that stands far above many of the acts currently dragging power metal down. They had a powerful, crystal-clear sound, great chemistry on stage, and carried themselves with the confidence and aura of a big band. Anyone who loves Running Wild needs to check out Blazon Stone… NOW! And naturally, any fan of power metal is bound to go wild for these Swedes. I’ve tried to find even the slightest flaw in Blazon Stone’s performance, and honestly, I can’t find one.

Next up were Brainstorm. I’ve respected and followed Brainstorm for years; they carry a level of quality and dignity that naturally commands both respect and applause. Although they had played in Greece many years ago, this was actually the first time I got to see them live, which made me anticipate their set with great excitement. It didn’t take long for them to take the stage at the already packed Gagarin 205, where they were welcomed warmly by the crowd. The Germans delivered their serious and measured brand of heavy/power metal, satisfying even the most demanding listeners. Their guitars sounded crushingly heavy, perfectly serving their well-crafted compositions, which lean far more toward the American style than the typical Teutonic approach. Meanwhile, Andy B. Franck was spot-on with his powerful and stylish vocals, while maintaining excellent contact with the audience throughout the set. The well-chosen setlist pleased everyone — and they even played my personal favorite, “Highs Without Lows”. Their sound was top-tier, their performance technically flawless yet full of emotion, making it clear to everyone in attendance that Brainstorm had delivered a wonderful performance, just before Grave Digger took the stage.

After Brainstorm said their goodbyes, we started getting ready for Grave Digger — and then we heard the bagpipes of “The Brave”! The Germans stormed the stage, opening with “Scotland United” from the legendary “Tunes of War”. What followed? Pure chaos. The entire venue rose to its feet, burst into flames with excitement, and sang along with the one and only Chris Boltendahl. Watching that incredibly likable frontman, founder and leader of the band, you could see the living history of Teutonic heavy metal standing right there before you — a towering figure of rock and metal who had the entire crowd exactly where he wanted them. Digger performed the entirety of “Tunes of War”, and absolute mayhem erupted during “Rebellion (The Clans Are Marching)”, one of heavy metal’s ultimate anthems.

What we experienced was absolute hell on earth — one of the most intense and emotional moments ever witnessed at a rock/metal concert in Greece – no exaggeration! The audience kept singing that immortal refrain long after the song had ended, leaving the four musicians visibly stunned. Then came five more of the very best Grave Digger songs — more than enough to send everyone into total metallic ecstasy. Band and fans were floating in pure happiness. The German musicians never stopped smiling; just looking at them was enough to make your heart lift. With phenomenal playing and a massive sound, they forced us into nonstop headbanging. The band eventually left the stage in an atmosphere of total euphoria, only to return after the crowd’s relentless chants for the encore of “Headbanging Man”, “Witch Hunter” and “Heavy Metal Breakdown”. It was the perfect ending to a phenomenal show, one in which Grave Digger led us straight into a heavy metal utopia. Chris Boltendahl, Tobias Kersting, Jens Becker and Marcus Kniep proved themselves to be the absolute heroes of heavy metal, silencing any doubters and showing once again that the veterans still know exactly how to create total pandemonium.

After everything extraordinary we had seen and heard, we left the club with our ears still ringing and our minds filled with beautiful memories. It was a magnificent live performance by Grave Digger, who rewarded us far beyond expectations. These are exactly the kind of moments that keep the myth of heavy metal alive — unforgettable moments that stay with you forever. And when the next time comes, we’ll be there again.

Before Godiva took the stage, two Greek bands were scheduled to perform — Sinistrous Mist and Eons Aura, both of which I had never seen live before. I wasn’t familiar with Sinistrous Mist at all, but I did know about Eons Aura, mainly as the new project of former Nightfall guitarist Michalis Galiatsos.

Either way, I was really looking forward to seeing both support acts, and they definitely made sure to warm things up and get us ready for the main event.

Shortly before Sinistrous Mist began, only a small number of people had arrived at Temple. The Greek black metallers stepped onto the stage and immediately plunged into their icy, atmospheric black metal sound. And I liked them quite a lot — their songs were intriguing and well-crafted, they played with passion and emotion, and it was obvious they’ve put in serious work at every level, down to the smallest detail.

The grandeur of their music was further amplified by the contribution of their keyboardist, and I appreciated how committed they were to their art. They may not have reinvented the wheel, but their majestic take on black metal will certainly appeal to fans of the genre. I’m confident that before long we’ll be hearing something truly exceptional from Sinistrous Mist.

It was time for Eons Aura to take over. The four musicians assumed their positions on stage — by then the crowd had grown a little larger — and the show began. What I saw and heard was decent, but nothing more than that. Their sound was average, and their playing came across as muddy, rough around the edges, rather messy and overly noisy.

Even though Michalis Galiatsos was the main point of focus and drew plenty of attention, and even though some familiar Nightfall songs were performed, the set didn’t satisfy me as much as I had hoped. For part of the performance, the band’s frontman was holding an inverted cross — something that personally threw me off, as it felt out of place to me, considering that such gestures are often perceived by many here as disrespectful toward the country’s officially recognized religion under the Constitution.

That said, the audience seemed to really enjoy Eons Aura and had a great time with their thrash/death/black metal attack. The band clearly fed off that energy, ultimately leaving the stage smiling.

After the two Greek bands, Godiva stepped onto the stage at Temple, greeted by cheers and warm applause from the crowd. Let’s be honest — Godiva may not have a particularly large fanbase in Greece, but quite a few were there eager to witness the Portuguese band live for the first time. And they were rewarded for it, because Godiva delivered an outstanding performance that left everyone impressed.

With a strong, clear sound, they came across as fierce, fluid and incredibly tight as a unit. They played with great spirit, massive passion, flawless technical precision and an intensely energetic stage presence. This powerful blend of skill, emotion and showmanship thrilled the audience, who were completely captivated from start to finish.

Performing songs from every era of their career, the quartet tore through everything with unstoppable momentum — each member brought their own personal style and character to the stage, mesmerizing the audience like actors in a theatrical production. We were drawn into Godiva’s universe, lived their experience and ultimately bowed to the refined, sophisticated force of their blackened death metal sound.

It’s certain that Godiva gained many new fans that night — myself included! I also loved the fact that all four musicians radiated such positive energy, regardless of their role in the band. You could tell they were genuinely happy — not least because it was their very first show in Greece, a moment they clearly embraced with pure excitement and joy.

After Godiva’s show, we left Temple in high spirits. It was a major metal moment — one that will stay etched in our memories for a long time. Now I’m off to dive into Godiva’s discography, starting with their latest album, “Hubris” (2023)!

First on the billing were Modulus Zero. I’m quite fond of their alternative/post/prog rock style, so I really enjoyed their thirty-minute set, which included several of their own songs as well as their successful cover of Black Sabbath’s “War Pigs”. This band has talent and vision — they have a clear musical identity and express it eloquently. Of course, they still need to keep working hard in order to stand out even more. That said, the night at Piraeus Club Academy wasn’t perfect from a sound-production standpoint, as the guitar and the vocal reverb were practically nonexistent! Even so, Modulus Zero managed to charm the small crowd and passed the baton to the next band feeling satisfied and proud.

The Ruckus Habit kept the night going with their fiery indie/alt heavy rock, and honestly, their music set Piraeus Club Academy on fire. They played like madmen — passionate, intense, and full of confidence — and the crowd loved every minute of it. Honest and authentic, The Ruckus Habit know exactly what their sound is, they write with inspiration, and they perform their engaging music with maturity and control. With great sound and a “ready for anything” attitude, the four musicians thrilled and entertained everyone in attendance. I believe The Ruckus Habit are a band that has everything it takes to succeed on every level. It’s in their hands to become alt rock stars!

And then it was time for Narkissus Fall. They’re a relatively new band in the symphonic metal scene and so far have released only a few singles. This show was their very first live performance, so it was natural for them to feel a bit nervous — but none of that showed onstage. In fact, once Narkissus Fall stepped onto the platform, they unleashed their powerful symphonic metal, sending waves of excitement through the audience. The five-piece had many of their own fans present, cheering at every opportunity! It became obvious that Narkissus Fall’s music is quite demanding, yet when faced with the challenge of bringing it to life on stage, they not only rose to the occasion — they crushed it. I was especially impressed by Dimitra Lefay, who mesmerized everyone with her operatic vocals, the drummer who absolutely tore it up, and the keyboardist who commanded his instrument like another Tuomas Holopainen.

The night wrapped up in style with Bring Back Persephone taking the stage. They’re a well-known name in the Greek scene, with more than fifteen years under their belt. Their sound leans strongly into post-hardcore and metalcore, and their songs are full of energy. That was obvious from the very start of their set — simple, stripped-down and absolutely explosive. With monstrous grooves and killer riffs, Bring Back Persephone pushed us to scream our lungs out, go wild and applaud like crazy. The crowd wasn’t huge at that point, but those who stayed for their show definitely got more than their money’s worth. Their cover of Placebo’s “Every You Every Me” was great, the singer had a sharp sense of humor and connected easily with the fans, the drummer played like an octopus, and the guitars did all the dirty work. I’ll be honest: I had never seen the band live before, but what I witnessed that night turned me into a fan. And I’m sure the same happened to plenty of others in the audience. Finally, an extreme metal band with a low profile and real dedication to music!

Once the fourth band finished their set, the curtain came down at Piraeus Club Academy and we started heading back, tired but genuinely happy to have watched four truly remarkable bands live. Support the bands, who deserve it!

How did Sleek first come together as a band?
SLEEK started back in 2021 as an idea that simply needed to come to life. Joe – our singer – had a bunch of lyrics and a few rough demos recorded on acoustic guitar and voice, and decided it was time to form a band that would create original music — no covers, no compromises. He reached out to longtime friends and fellow musicians with a shared love for hard rock. One by one, the right people came together, and the chemistry clicked immediately. What began as a small project quickly became a real band with a strong identity and a common vision.

How did you choose the name “Sleek” for the band?
Ha, ha – you should ask Alkis, our bass player…We wanted a name that would sound sharp, modern, and international — something that could represent the energy and attitude of our music without being tied to any particular era. “Sleek” felt right the moment it was said. It’s short, powerful, and has a sense of motion and style — just like the music we aim to make.

How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard your music before?
We’d describe it as melodic hard rock with heart and bite. It’s rooted in the late ’80s and early ’90s American hard rock sound — think big choruses, twin guitars, and emotional vocals — but with a fresh and modern edge. You’ll hear touches of AOR, country rock, blues, and even punk energy in some tracks. It’s the kind of music that makes you feel something, whether it’s nostalgia or adrenaline.

Who are your biggest musical influences?
Our influences are a mix of classic and modern rock icons — Van Halen, Guns N’ Roses, Dokken, Poison, Bon Jovi, and Bruce Springsteen, but also Pearl Jam, Scorpions, and Def Leppard. We grew up listening to these bands, and they shaped our sense of melody, energy, and stage presence. But we also let our individual tastes blend in — that’s what gives SLEEK its unique flavor.

What inspired you to start writing the songs that became “Still Hurts”?
The songs came from real emotions — frustration, loss, hope, and the desire to stay true to ourselves. “Still Hurts” isn’t about a single story or heartbreak; it’s about everything we see fading around us — honesty, connection, empathy. We wanted to capture that feeling of fighting to stay human in a world that often feels cold and detached.

How long did it take you to complete the album from start to finish?
Almost over a year. Since all of us have jobs and personal commitments, we had to balance recording with everyday life. There were many late-night sessions, lots of rewrites and re-recordings, but every minute was worth it. After recording the drum parts, our original drummer Vagg D left the band for professional reasons, and was replaced by Greg S, who also contributed significantly by adding keyboard layers to several tracks. That transition naturally extended the recording process, but it also gave the album new depth and atmosphere. We wanted “Still Hurts” to sound powerful but also organic — like a real band playing together, not a digital product.

What were the main challenges you faced during the recording process?
Time, definitely. But also the pursuit of balance — finding the line between a polished production and raw energy. We wanted it to sound professional without losing the soul of our performances. That’s always the hardest part: capturing emotion while keeping things tight.

Can you tell us more about working with Stelios Koutelis on production?
Stelios was a huge part of this record. He’s not just a producer — he’s a guide and a friend. He gave us the space to experiment but also the structure to keep things focused. His patience and experience helped shape the final sound of “Still Hurts”. Without him, the album wouldn’t be what it is.

Which song on “Still Hurts” means the most to you personally, and why?
That’s tough — every song carries a part of us. But if we had to choose one, that would have to be the title track, “Still Hurts”. It captures everything we wanted to express with this album — pain, strength, honesty, and hope. The song was one of the first ideas that shaped the record’s direction and emotion. It’s about the wounds we all carry, the ones that never fully heal, but also about the beauty of feeling alive through them. Every time we play it, it hits differently — it’s raw, emotional, and deeply personal to all of us.

The album has a lot of emotion and melody — is that something you focused on from the beginning?
Absolutely. Melody is what makes hard rock timeless. You can have all the riffs in the world, but if there’s no emotional connection, it fades fast. We wanted every song to strike straight to the heart — to move you, to make you feel something real. Some songs carry pain, others hope or nostalgia, but all of them come from a genuine place. That emotional honesty was our main goal from day one, and it’s what gives “Still Hurts” its soul.

How do you usually write songs — do you start with riffs, lyrics, or melodies?
It varies. Most of the time, Joe brings in the initial chord progression along with a vocal melody he’s already shaped. From there, the rest of the band takes over — adding riffs, building grooves, experimenting with keyboards, and layering guitars until the song transforms completely. Other times, everything starts from the guitars — usually with Nick E, who lays down the main structure, riffs, and solos. Once that foundation is in place, Joe steps in with the vocals, and together we shape the arrangement and final form. It’s a very collaborative process — a creative back-and-forth that keeps every song alive and unpredictable.

What message or feeling do you want listeners to take away from “Still Hurts”?
That it’s okay to feel — to hurt, to fight, to love, to fall and get up again. The album is about honesty and persistence. Life can break you down, but music and connection can put you back together. That’s what we want people to take with them when they listen.

The last song, “A Life in Chains”, has some punk rock elements. Was that a deliberate choice?
It kind of happened naturally. The song had this raw energy from the start, and we just followed it. Those punk elements came out of instinct — it felt right for the message and the vibe. We like to keep things open and not lock ourselves into one style.

Who writes the lyrics, and what inspires them the most?
Most of the lyrics are written by Joe — his writing is very emotional and personal, often inspired by real-life situations, inner struggles. That’s something that really helps with the interpretation — he feels every word because it comes directly from him. It’s always more genuine when you sing your own truth instead of someone else’s. That said, Nick and Alkis also contributed lyrically in parts of the album, bringing in their own perspective and attitude. But after all, we all contribute to the stories in some way — through music, conversation, or the atmosphere we create together.

How important are live shows to Sleek’s identity as a band?
Live shows are everything. That’s where the real magic happens — the sweat, the noise, the people. We’re a band that feeds off energy, and when the crowd gives it back, it’s explosive. Playing live keeps us grounded and connected to why we started in the first place.

What has been the best reaction you’ve received from fans so far?
Hearing people sing along to songs they just discovered is an incredible feeling. One fan told us that “Still Hurts” helped them get through a really tough time, and honestly, that’s the kind of feedback that stays with you. That’s why we do it.

Do you think the Greek rock/metal scene gives enough support to bands like yours?
The scene is full of talent, but the support system could be stronger. There’s not enough airplay or exposure for new rock bands, even though the audience is there and hungry for it. We’ve been lucky to have international promotion through our label, but we believe the Greek scene still has huge potential waiting to be unlocked.

Are there any artists you’d love to collaborate with in the future?
We’re always open to collaborations, as long as they feel genuine and creative. What matters most to us is chemistry — working with artists who share the same passion for real, heartfelt rock music. We really admire bands like H.E.A.T. and Crazy Lixx, who keep the melodic hard rock spirit alive while pushing it forward. Collaborating with artists who share that same drive and authenticity would be something truly inspiring.

What are your goals now that “Still Hurts” is out?
To take it on the road. We want to play live, connect with people inside and outside Athens — even in different countries, and keep building momentum. At the same time, we’re already writing new material — always looking ahead, always pushing ourselves.

Have you already started writing new material for the next album?
Yes, the process has already begun. Some new songs are taking shape, and they feel more mature, maybe darker in some ways, but still true to our sound. We’re letting it grow naturally, without pressure. Quality takes time. That said, one or two new tracks are already standing out from the rest, and we might move forward with recording and releasing them as singles to gain some time and keep the fire burning between releases.

How do you see Sleek evolving musically in the next few years?
We’ll always stay true to the melodic hard rock core that defines us, but we’re not afraid to evolve. Expect deeper storytelling, more dynamic arrangements, and maybe a few surprises. We want every release to feel like a new chapter — familiar but not repetitive.

What would you like to say to the fans who have supported you so far?
A huge “THANK YOU”! You’re the reason we keep doing this. Every message, every share, every person who comes to a show — it all matters. Keep spreading the word, keep believing in real music, and never stop rocking. LONG LIVE ROCK N’ ROLL!

Seeing Pagan on stage gave me some thoughts I’d really like to share.

First of all, the show was sold out, and even before the concert began, Kyttaro was already packed to the brim. Clearly, the audience has embraced Pagan wholeheartedly, regardless of musical background or stylistic preferences. In the crowd you could see rock fans, metalheads, lovers of Greek music, ethnic/folk listeners, and plenty of people who simply enjoy music without fitting into any particular category. Pagan have managed to bring together music lovers of many different worlds — people who come to their shows to have a good time, to feel inspired, and to get carried away, even intoxicated, by the sound itself.

Secondly, what Pagan are doing is very close in spirit to Heilung. Their live shows are mystical — a Dionysian, traditional musical celebration where Greek folk roots meet the electric sound. They use traditional instruments and create a folk-meets-rock feast: a vibrant blend of music, dance and theatrical performance. Pagan present not just a concert, but a ritual — a living ceremony in which tradition comes alive before our eyes. Music, movement and light intertwine, captivating the senses. We find ourselves participating in a musical-theatrical rite — uplifting, lyrical, melodic and deeply transportive.

Thirdly, Pagan’s songs include their own compositions, but also reinterpretations of well-known traditional Greek folk songs, brought back to life through smart, fresh arrangements. These songs are infused with rock and heavy rock elements, expanded through improvisations and jams, becoming the musical vehicle that carries us across different corners of Greece. Folk melodies and electric instrumentation merge into one, allowing us to reconnect with our musical heritage, with nature, and with the Greek soul itself. Here, there is no room for political or religious divides — Pagan sing, dance, and take us along with them to places both radiant and dreamlike.

All these thoughts were circling in my mind while I was part of the celebration, and even later, after we left Kyttaro. It wasn’t just a concert from an ordinary band — it was an immersive experience, something that awakened old memories and reconnected us with our past. A different kind of performance, one we will remember for a long time, from a band that suggests the future lies in returning to nature, to the earth, to our culture and origins. For almost three hours, through a multitude of instruments — both electric and traditional — we heard the Greek soul alive before us.

Myth of Rock hit the road early to make it on time to Floyd Live Music Venue, where chaos was expected—and rightfully so. We were there as soon as the doors opened, securing a good spot right in front of the stage. It was only a matter of time before the venue filled up, which was no surprise since the Finnish band has always been loved by the Greek audience. By around 8:45, Floyd was packed, and everyone was buzzing with anticipation for The Rasmus to take the stage. There was no support act, but honestly, The Rasmus and their Greek fans didn’t need one to warm up. The moment the four-piece stepped onto the stage, the place simply exploded! Led by the band’s founder and frontman, Lauri Ylönen, The Rasmus kicked off their show with tremendous energy, instantly electrifying the crowd. They were full of enthusiasm and good vibes, and with the confidence and class of a truly great band, they passed their positive energy straight to their devoted fans. With an excellent performance, great sound, and the stage presence of genuine rock stars, The Rasmus played their biggest hits with passion and conviction. They didn’t just win the crowd over—they reminded everyone that they still belong among the elite of the global rock scene, even after all these years. They didn’t have to prove anything, but as always, there are expectations, and the best bands know how to answer them—through their music and live shows. That’s exactly what The Rasmus did, giving us an unforgettable night of pure joy and energy for about an hour and a half. What impressed me most was how the audience knew the lyrics to every single song, singing along with the band from start to finish. Naturally, “In the Shadows” and “Living in a World Without You” were the absolute highlights of a setlist that spanned the group’s entire career—an exciting concert that never lost momentum for a second. The interaction between the musicians and the crowd was also remarkable. It was truly a fantastic live show, filled with melody, emotion, and adrenaline, with The Rasmus as the undeniable stars of the night!

By 10:50 p.m., as the band left the stage, we were all left thrilled, our voices hoarse and genuinely happy to have witnessed yet another flawless live show from The Rasmus. “More nights like this, please!” we thought to ourselves, as we made our way home, hearts full and smiles wide.

Around 8:30 p.m., the first band hit the stage – I See Red, a Greek death metal act already known for their fine blend of extreme metal. To be honest, I didn’t know what to expect, but soon enough I See Red proved their potential and distinctive character. Without any fuss, they appeared before us and unleashed their death metal assault. It quickly became clear that their sound combines elements of brutal and technical death metal, along with touches of melodic death and black metal. I really enjoyed their songs – they show that this Greek band knows how to write music and lyrics in its own extreme metal style. I also loved their set, which proved they know how to deliver the goods live. Their vocalist, in particular, impressed me with his powerful performance. Check out this band – they’ve got great things to offer.

After I See Red, the baton was passed to the other special guests of the night, Amken. The extreme metal powerhouse from Athens wasted no time and began catapulting their thrash metal anthems with passion and confidence. They were relentless, and nothing could stop them. I really like the band’s top-class material, and once again, I enjoyed their thrash metal menace, their breakneck tempos, their maturity, and their tight musicianship. They were in great spirits, had the sound they wanted, and gave the fans exactly what they came for. It’s true that the audience wasn’t as energetic as the band expected, but that didn’t hold Amken back – they did far more than simply their job! It was a thrash metal holocaust – the band delivered another excellent performance, proving once again that Amken is a guarantee of pure, old-school thrash metal. They truly live by the motto “full speed or nothing!” I’m really curious to hear their new album – all these powerful live shows have clearly forged Amken in fire!

Amken finished their set, and the audience – which had almost packed the Gagarin 205 venue – was eagerly anticipating the arrival of The Haunted. The Swedish thrash metal masters didn’t keep us waiting for long; at around 10:30 p.m., they stormed the stage and unleashed a thrash metal maelstrom! The Haunted were furious and merciless, firing off one killer track after another and sending their fans into pure hysteria. There was no doubt that The Haunted still have it – their thrash metal assault was both breath-taking and commanding. I truly enjoyed their fantastic live show: the band’s massive riffs, the anvil-heavy rhythm section, and the awe-inspiring vocals of Marco Aro were more than enough to leave everyone stunned. With the lead guitar weaving a rich electric tapestry over the backbone of thunderous drums, bass, and rhythm guitar, The Haunted catapulted their signature thrash metal sound with devastating precision. The sound was loud and clear; the songs carried the power and quality of the studio versions, yet burned with the raw energy of the stage. The Haunted are a full-throttle thrash metal machine – but beneath all that ferocity, there’s a surprising depth of emotion in their music and lyrics. Their superb, no-nonsense, no-compromise set – packed with fan favourites – lasted an hour and a half and delivered exactly what we came for. The Haunted did it, and they did it fabulously!

What we experienced that night was incredible! The young talent of I See Red, the maturity of Amken, and the top quality of The Haunted made this live show a truly great moment in Athens’ concert history. After seeing and hearing three fantastic bands on stage, we made our way back home, happy and fulfilled, with the riffs of the night still echoing in our heads!
