Leatherhead: Leatherhead belong to the new generation of Greek heavy/speed metal bands that have already started attracting attention from abroad. The Larissa-based band made a strong impression with their self-titled debut in 2024, while they followed it up with “Violent Horror Stories” (2026), a darker and more aggressive record that further established their heavy/speed metal identity. Drawing strong influences from the American speed/thrash metal of Agent Steel, Flotsam And Jetsam, Overkill and Metal Church, while also developing their own aesthetic centered around horror stories, Leatherhead have quickly built a reputation as an excellent live band, thanks to their energy, technical skills and professionalism. On Friday, September 11, they will take the stage, effectively opening the Rock Hard Festival Greece, ready to prove why they are considered one of the most promising names in the Greek metal scene — a band with all the potential to achieve great things internationally as well.

Primordial:  Few bands in the European extreme metal underground have managed to develop such a distinctive identity as Primordial. Formed in 1993 in Skerries, Dublin, the Irish band emerged from the first wave of early ’90s black metal, but very quickly moved beyond the genre’s boundaries, creating a sound that combines the bleak intensity of black metal with the spirit of Celtic tradition and epic storytelling. The core of the band was formed by bassist Pól MacAmhlaigh and guitarist Ciarán MacUiliam, musicians who had already been playing together since the late ’80s. When vocalist Alan “Nemtheanga” Averill joined the band in 1991, following a simple advertisement posted in a Dublin record store, the identity of Primordial began to take clear shape. Inspired by the dark atmosphere of Bathory and Celtic Frost, as well as the emerging Scandinavian black metal scene, they moved toward a darker and more ritualistic sound. Primordial soon became one of the first bands to represent Ireland on the international black metal scene. Their debut album, “Imrama”, introduced a melodic and atmospheric approach, while “A Journey’s End” expanded their music with traditional instruments and a stronger epic character. Over the years, albums such as “Spirit the Earth Aflame” and “The Gathering Wilderness” further refined their style, combining ferocity with deeply emotional and historically inspired themes. By the time “To the Nameless Dead” was released, PRIMORDIAL had firmly established themselves as one of the most remarkable and authentic names in extreme metal. Their music stands out not only for its intensity, but also for the powerful emotion conveyed through Nemtheanga’s commanding performances. For more than three decades, Primordial have remained steadfast in their vision. With a discography most recently culminating in “How It Ends” (2023), they continue to express a powerful blend of black metal, pagan atmosphere and epic melancholy. For the Greek audience in particular, Primordial have long been a particularly beloved and highly respected name.

Morgana Lefay (rare reunion show):  On September 11, Rock Hard Festival Greece welcomes one of the most important cult names ever to emerge from Sweden. The occasion is truly special: Morgana Lefay are returning to the stage for one of only two appearances they will make in 2026. The other will take place in their hometown of Bollnäs. This will be their only international appearance of the year, at least for the time being. And even more importantly? Their last concert took place in 2018. Eight whole years of silence, eight years of anticipation… Their story began in 1986 in Bollnäs, initially under the name Damage, before transforming into Morgana Lefay a few years later. From “Symphony Of The Damned” to the masterpiece “Grand Materia” and their swan song “Aberrations Of The Mind”, the band led by Charles Rytkönen (vocals) and Tony Eriksson (guitars) created an immediately recognizable sound. Dark, theatrical and imposing. Power metal with a progressive mindset, thrash attitude and an atmosphere that few have managed to capture. Morgana Lefay delivered a discography that has remained untouched by time, with albums that continue to sound fresh and exciting decades after their release. The Greek audience embraced the band from an early stage, recognizing something that took years for others to understand. This mutual bond remains alive to this day, which is why their appearance at Technopolis City of Athens takes on the character of a reunion — a meeting between a legendary band and an audience that never stopped believing in them. On September 11, songs such as “To Isengard”, “Master of the Masquerade”, “Maleficium” and many more will be heard live once again. The legends from Bollnäs are returning — and that doesn’t happen very often!

Stratovarius (A travel through time with a special ’90s set): Few bands embody the golden era of European power metal quite like Stratovarius. Formed in Finland in 1984, they evolved into one of the genre’s most influential and beloved names, helping shape the sound of power metal throughout the 1990s. The arrival of guitarist and songwriter Timo Tolkki in December 1985 proved crucial to their development, as he became the creative force behind their early albums and helped establish their signature sound, which combined speed, melody and neoclassical influences. Their debut, “Fright Night”, was released in 1989, followed by “Twilight Time” (1992) and “Dreamspace” (1994), records that gradually established their reputation across Europe and Japan. A major turning point came in 1994 with the arrival of vocalist Timo Kotipelto, whose powerful and melodic voice led the band into their most glorious era. Shortly afterwards, virtuoso keyboardist Jens Johansson and drummer Jörg Michael joined the lineup, completing the classic Stratovarius formation. With this lineup, the band entered an extraordinary creative period that produced some of the most important albums in the history of European power metal. Records such as “Fourth Dimension” (1995), “Episode” (1996), “Visions” (1997) and “Destiny” (1998) placed Stratovarius at the forefront of the international metal scene. These albums introduced a more symphonic sound, incorporating choirs and orchestral arrangements alongside lightning-fast guitar passages and impressive keyboard work. Songs such as “Black Diamond”, “The Kiss of Judas”, “Father Time”, “Against the Wind” and “Speed of Light” immediately became classics and defined the band’s identity. During the same period, Stratovarius developed an especially strong bond with the Greek audience. By the late ’90s, they were among the most popular metal bands in the country, performing numerous sold-out shows that remain unforgettable to this day. This connection was captured on the double live album “Live! Visions of Europe” (1998), part of which was recorded in Athens, documenting the unique energy shared between the band and the Greek crowd. For their festival appearance, Stratovarius will present a special and exclusive set devoted entirely to the music that defined that legendary decade. Their set will focus on their most important ’90s moments — the period when they reached the peak of their creativity and released some of the most timeless records in power metal history. It promises to be a journey back in time, to an era when the Finns “ruled” the world of melodic metal, bringing back to life songs that inspired entire generations of listeners and musicians. With their trademark combination of speed, emotion and technical excellence, Stratovarius will celebrate the decade that established them as legends!

Blood, Fire, Death – A tribute to Quorthon and the music of Bathory: Rock Hard Festival Greece proudly announced one of the most special and historically significant performances to be presented at the 2026 edition: Blood, Fire, Death – A Tribute to Quorthon and the Music of Bathory! Few names in the history of metal music carry the legendary weight of Thomas “Quorthon” Forsberg. When he passed away on June 3, 2004, the metal world lost one of its most visionary and influential creators. Through Bathory, Quorthon redefined the boundaries of extreme metal and created music that influenced entire generations of bands. With the release of Bathory’s self-titled debut in 1984, he laid the foundations for what would later develop into the worldwide phenomenon we know as black metal. Although earlier bands had experimented with darker aesthetics, Bathory established the defining musical blueprint: primitive aggression, a freezing atmosphere and an uncompromising vision that inspired countless artists — particularly in Scandinavia — to take metal into darker and more extreme territories. Quorthon subsequently redefined the genre through the epic, Viking-inspired works that followed, proving that Bathory were never a band confined to a single direction, but rather a force that transformed extreme metal itself, influencing everything from black metal to Viking metal and beyond. Following his death in 2004, members of Norway’s black metal elite came together to honor the pioneer. At the legendary Hole in the Sky festival in Bergen, musicians from bands such as Darkthrone, Emperor, Enslaved, Satyricon, Immortal, Gorgoroth and Aura Noir performed a carefully selected set of Bathory classics — songs that had profoundly shaped the Norwegian scene itself. What began as a one-off tribute quickly evolved into one of the most respected tributes in the history of extreme metal. Two decades later, in 2024, the 20th anniversary of Quorthon’s death led to the revival of this unique musical collaboration. At the Beyond the Gates festival in Bergen — held at the historic Grieghallen, a venue inextricably linked to the early recordings of the Norwegian black metal scene — the project returned to the stage once again to honor the legacy of Bathory. The renewed performance featured an impressive lineup of musicians whose own bands played a crucial role in shaping the very genre inspired by Bathory. Erik Danielsson (Watain) handled vocals, while Ivar Bjørnson (Enslaved) and Blasphemer (Vltimas, formerly Mayhem) performed on guitar, Apollyon (Aura Noir) on bass and vocals, and Faust (Djevel, formerly Emperor) on drums. The performance was a complete and immersive experience, designed to bring Quorthon’s music to life on stage as he himself had envisioned it. Danielsson also contributed to the artistic direction and visual presentation, creating a show that captured both the atmosphere and spirit of Bathory’s historic recordings. The result was truly impressive… Beyond the core lineup, the concerts also feature a rotating group of distinguished guests from the elite of the Scandinavian scene. Among them are Grutle Kjellson (Enslaved), Gaahl (Trelldom, formerly Gorgoroth), Frederick Melander (formerly Bathory), and Attila Csihar (Mayhem), all of whom will be in Athens for this performance. It is a rare opportunity to witness a historic celebration dedicated to one of the greatest creators in the history of metal.

Here is the announcement in U.D.O.’s social media pages: “Notice about the Pyraser Classic Rock Night: During our performance at the Pyraser Classic Rock Night, Peter Baltes and Alen Brentini suffered serious falls due to insufficient safety conditions on stage. Alen suffered several severe contusions and other injuries. Fortunately, despite this, he is in a condition to continue performing. Peter suffered three rib fractures and is being treated at a hospital in Nuremberg. He is likely not to be able to perform for a longer period. Our thoughts are with him, and we wish a speedy and complete recovery. Despite these difficult circumstances, Dirkschneider will continue to perform the scheduled shows as planned. We will release more information as soon as it is available. Thank you very much for the support and for all the messages of well-being sent to Peter and Alen”.

Currently there is no information regarding how Peter Baltes and Alen Brentini fell on stage at the German music festival. More details to be added soon.
