Jennifer’s passing was announced yesterday (Saturday, July 18) by her bandmates. They wrote in a statement on social media: “With a very heavy heart we announce that our beloved bandmate, friend, and fellow troublemaker Jennifer Finch has passed away today. She had a long courageous fight with brain cancer and was loved by many wonderful friends, musical peers and fans worldwide.”

They added: “We are shattered by the loss of our beloved bandmate, sister and friend, whose fierce spirit, humor and boundless creativity helped shape L7 and changed all of our lives forever.

“Jennifer was a true original who lived entirely on her own terms, and the impact she made on music, art and everyone lucky enough to know her cannot be measured. We love her beyond words and will carry her with us always.

“Rest in power, our dear friend.

“With love, L7”.

After revealing her diagnosis with an aggressive form of brain cancer and announcing her withdrawal from the band’s farewell tour on July 13, Finch became the focus of a GoFundMe campaign that raised more than $375,000. The funds were intended to cover in-home nursing care, medical equipment, physical and speech therapy, home-care expenses, and to help complete a creative project she had hoped to finish in 2027.

Earlier this month, L7 explained that The Last Hurrah Tour had been planned “when all four of us were in good health and spirits,” but Jennifer Finch was forced to step away after being diagnosed with cancer. Despite her condition, Finch encouraged the band to carry on with the tour without her. For the remaining dates, she was temporarily replaced by Tsuzumi Okai, who previously toured as LIMP BIZKIT’s bassist in 2018.

“We will honor her request while making her care and well-being our immediate priority,” they wrote, before concluding: “We love her, and we want her to feel the full strength of the community that has loved and supported her for so many years.”

According to TMZ, Rob Reiner and his 70-year-old wife were found dead in their Brentwood, California home, with law enforcement sources claiming both had suffered knife-related lacerations. The report added that there were no signs of forced entry.

A spokesperson for the family confirmed the Reiners’ deaths, saying in a statement: “It is with profound sorrow that we announce the tragic passing of Michele and Rob Reiner. We are heartbroken by this sudden loss, and we ask for privacy during this unbelievably difficult time”.

According to People and New York Post, the couple’s 32-year-old son Nick Reiner is “a person of interest” in the deadly stabbing and he is currently “being questioned” by police.

Los Angeles Police Department deputy chief Alan Hamilton said, “We are not looking for anyone as a suspect or in any other manner at this time,” emphasizing that the investigation is still in its earliest phase and adding that no one had yet been detained nor was anyone being interviewed “as a suspect”.

“We’re going to try to speak to every family member that we can to get to the facts of this investigation,” Hamilton said.

Reiner was a two-time Emmy Award–winning actor for his role in the landmark TV series “All in the Family,” and an acclaimed filmmaker behind classics such as “This Is Spinal Tap,” “Stand by Me,” “The Princess Bride,” “When Harry Met Sally…,” “Misery,” “A Few Good Men,” “The American President,” “Ghosts of Mississippi,” and “The Bucket List.” More recently, he directed the Emmy-nominated documentary “Albert Brooks: Defending My Life,” as well as “Spinal Tap II: The End Continues,” the long-awaited sequel to “This Is Spinal Tap”.

The band issued the following statement: “With deep sorrow, we share the heartbreaking news that our dear friend, band member, and one of the founders of Sacramentum, Nisse Karlén, has passed away. He chose to leave this world due to struggles with mental health.

“At this time, we kindly ask for privacy for his family, friends, and bandmates as we come to terms with this loss. Thank you for everything, Nisse. You will always be with us. Suicide is never to be glorified.”

Formed in Falköping in 1990 under the name Tumulus, Sacramentum quickly gained recognition for their atmospheric and melodic take on black/death metal. Nisse Karlén, who started as a guitarist before switching to bass and vocals, was a driving force behind the band’s formative years and their iconic 1996 debut, Far Away from the Sun, which is now hailed as a classic of melodic black metal.

Throughout their career, Sacramentum released three full-length albums – “Far Away From The Sun”, “The Coming Of Chaos”, and “Thy Black Destiny” – earning comparisons to Dissection for their blend of dark melodies and ferocious intensity. Their influence remains strong, echoing in countless extreme metal bands across Europe and North America.

Two days after Ozzy’s passing, the Daily Mail reported that an air ambulance was dispatched to Welders House, the BLACK SABBATH legend’s mansion in Buckinghamshire, UK, on the morning of July 22. The helicopter touched down in a nearby field at 10:30 a.m., just 15 minutes after being called. By 12:30 p.m., the paramedics had returned to their base at RAF Benson, located 27 miles away near Wallingford in South Oxfordshire.

“We can confirm that our helicopter was dispatched to provide advanced critical care at an incident near Chalfont St Giles yesterday,” a spokesperson for the Thames Valley Air Ambulance wrote to the Daily Mail.

Ozzy’s 85-year-old sister Jean Powell also spoke to The Mirror about the singer’s death and said that it was unexpected. “He was frail but it still came as a shock,” she said. “He still had plans and things he wanted to do. We don’t know the details of his death; it’s still too early. It’s just so sad. I’m just thankful he died in England”.
