Polish extreme metal band DECAPITATED has announced the departure of vocalist Rafał “Rasta” Piotrowski and has brought in Eemeli Bodde from Finnish metallers MORS SUBITA as his replacement.

Eemeli Bodde will make his live debut with DECAPITATED on Friday, November 1, at the Damnation Festival’s “A Night Of Salvation” held at BEC Arena in Manchester, United Kingdom. The performance will also feature the band’s original vocalist, Wojciech “Sauron” Wąsowicz, who was part of DECAPITATED from 1996 to 2005, joining them for several “classic” tracks.

Earlier today (Friday, October 11), DECAPITATED released the following statement via social media: “It’s been a while since we’ve had an update, but as the saying goes, good things take time! We’re thrilled to announce that Sauron, our original vocalist, will be re-joining us in Manchester for Damnation Festival – A Night Of Salvation. He’ll be performing some of the band’s classic tracks—songs that have already become iconic and helped define a generation. We couldn’t be more excited to have Sauron’s powerful voice back on stage and to share this special moment with you, our loyal fans! At the same time, we have some bittersweet news: Rasta is stepping down as the band’s vocalist. We want to take a moment to thank him for his 14 years of dedication. He’s been a huge part of DECAPITATED’s journey, and we’re incredibly grateful for all he’s contributed. We wish him nothing but the best in his future endeavors. Looking to the future, we’re excited to introduce our new vocalist, Eemeli Bodde. Some of you might know him from his work with Finland’s @morssubitaofficial or his involvement in the soundtrack for the cult film Heavy Trip. Eemeli brings an incredible voice and an electrifying stage presence, and we can’t wait for you to experience the energy he’ll bring to the band. He’ll make his debut at A Night Of Salvation, and we hope you’ll join us for what promises to be an unforgettable show!”

Rasta added in a statement: “The time has come for me to leave DECAPITATED. After all these years with the band this was a difficult decision for me to make. It has been an incredible journey with many great memories and I would like to thank every single person I have met along the way – to the band, our collaborators and to everyone that worked with and supported us during my time. It was awesome to be a part of DECAP and to see the band flourish over the years. I wish them all the best. To the best fans in the world – thank you for your enduring support. Your passion and energy has always been my fuel and performing for you around the planet has been the greatest privilege of all. All the best and stay in touch!”.

In the context of extreme metal, few bands have left as profound an impact as Decapitated. Hailing from Poland, this powerhouse quartet has carved a path of sonic devastation, pushing the boundaries of technical death metal while captivating audiences worldwide. From their inception to their evolution as pioneers of the genre, Decapitated are famous for their artistic innovation and unwavering dedication.

Decapitated emerged onto the scene in 1996, founded in Krosno by guitar virtuoso, Wacław “Vogg” Kiełtyka, along with his brother, drummer Witold “Vitek” Kiełtyka. Drawing inspiration from the likes of Death and Morbid Angel, the band swiftly gained recognition for their relentless aggression and intricate compositions. With the addition of bassist Marcin “Martin” Rygiel and vocalist Wojciech “Sauron” Wąsowicz, Decapitated solidified their lineup and unleashed their debut studio album, “Winds of Creation”, in 2000.

What sets Decapitated apart is their unparalleled musicianship and penchant for pushing the boundaries of technical proficiency. Each Decapitated album is a step forward, a work of their artistic evolution, with complex rhythms, blistering solos and relentless percussion weaving together to create a sonic tapestry unlike any other. Tracks like “Spheres of Madness” and “Day 69” exemplify their ability to marry ferocity with finesse, showcasing a level of precision that has earned them acclaim from both fans and critics alike.

Decapitated’s discography is the result of their incredible commitment to musical excellence. From their groundbreaking debut to their most recent release, they have consistently delivered albums that push the boundaries of the genre. Highlights include:

– “Winds of Creation” (2000): A seminal debut that set the stage for Decapitated’s ascent, featuring technical wizardry and brutal intensity.

– “Nihility” (2002): An exploration of existential themes coupled with weird song structures, solidifying their status as pioneers of the genre.

– “Organic Hallucinosis” (2006): A sonic onslaught that showcased the band’s maturity and continued evolution, with compelling tracks, which demonstrate their mastery of complex arrangements.

– “Blood Mantra” (2014): A ferocious return to form, blending elements of groove and melody with their trademark aggression.

– “Anticult” (2017): A bold statement of defiance and resilience, truly convincing of Decapitated’s ability to innovate while staying true to their roots.

– “Cancer Culture” (2022): The eighth album of the Polish masters is once again a magnum opus, of groove, aggression and complexity.

Decapitated’s influence extends far beyond their discography, shaping the landscape of technical death. Their innovative approach to songwriting and technical mastery have earned them a dedicated following. Despite facing adversity, including the tragic loss of founding member Vitek in a 2007 bus accident, Decapitated has persevered, carrying on their legacy with grace and determination.

Decapitated stands as a towering force in the world of extreme metal. With their uncompromising vision and unparalleled musicianship, they have carved a path of sonic destruction, leaving an indelible mark on the listeners. As they continue to evolve and inspire, Decapitated remains a singular band of the extreme metal sound, which leads and commands, no matter the clichés and the trends of the contemporary metal scene!
