Sebastian Bach – “Child Within the Man” (Reigning Phoenix Music)

Bach has shaped a bombastic record, a pilgrimage to beautiful, loud and melodic hard rock/metal music. Every song is an earworm, a tune, which will force you to bang your head and tap down your feet. Then, we have the excellent performances, especially from Bach, who sings passionately and shows us that he is in a good shape and mood. It seems that the beast named Sebastian Bach has broke again the chains and has left the cage, free and brave. Also the other musicians in Bach’s solo band play furiously and work miracles with their instruments – listen to the ferocious guitars and the anvil-like rhythm section. Of course, these nice pieces of hard rock/metal are complemented by the heavy and crystal clear production. (Dimitris Zacharopoulos)

Blood Incantation – “Absolute Elsewhere” (Century Media)

We suspected that something great would emerge from Blood Incantation this year, but not this! “Absolute Elsewhere” is a formidable, transcendental step of a band that leaves this world, becoming cosmic. Balancing admirably between Morbid Angel’s rambling brutality and Pink Floyd’s idiosyncratic psychedelia, Blood Incantation embark on an astonishing prog/death journey towards untrodden territories of the universe. The way they explore seemingly unrelated influences to form their own unconventional music world is unparalleled by anything we’ve witnessed so far. As abysmal themes, trances, and daring jamming sessions unfold across the void, shedding light on the unknown, you discover that you shouldn’t worry anymore; the future of death metal is in their hands. Bruce Dickinson – “The Mandrake Project” (BMG)

This Sir needs no introduction when it comes to the metal world. After twenty years since the release of the last album “Tyranny of Souls”, Iron Maiden’s vocalist has returned with the finest piece of art. With his long-time collaborator Roy Z, who can deliver the best, the heaviest riffs ever heard, this record is a killer beast! It has a Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd influence on it. The vocals are powerful with chugging riffs and soaring choruses. UP THE IRONS! (Raquel Miranda)

Dödsrit – “Nocturnal Will” (Wolves Of Hades)

The Norwegians stray far from their crust roots, embracing the epic element in a stirring album, brimming with heroic emotions and grandeur. The coldness of classic black metal, viewed through Dissection’s perspective, and overwhelming anthemic melodies unleash emotions so powerful that no soul remains intact. As hymns follow one another and screams of anguish and despair pierce your mind, you feel compelled to raise your voice aloud and allow your eyes to become wet. “Nocturnal Will” reminds you of these hidden powers of extreme and heavy metal that we often overlook in the faceless digital world. Eclipse – “Megalomanium II” (Frontiers)

Following the ‘Megalomanium I’ this album establishes for good the band among the very best bands in contemporary melodic hard rock. Catchy choruses, very heavy riffs and an all star combo, which elevates the status of the band even higher. (Antonis Mantzavinos)

Evergrey – “Theories of Emptiness” (Napalm)

Sweden sure does know how to deliver good metal to the fans, and this band is one of those examples. They keep reinventing themselves, even after lineup changes. They know how to incorporate haunting and beautiful key lines, adding to some snarling grunts. Crushing guitars make killer grooves, while choruses and verses alternate, bringing calmness and peace to the lyrics. They bring progressive elements into this record, never forgetting the tempos that fans are used to. BRILLIANT, JUST BRILLIANT! (Raquel Miranda)

Fit For An Autopsy – “The Nothing That Is” (2024, Nuclear Blast)

The guys from New Jersey don’t need any introduction, their name is synonym of quality deathcore, and their signature sound is again present in this new album. I immediately liked “The Nothing That Is” and loved its killer riffs, its infectious grooves, its monumental energy! Fit for an Autopsy unleash an incredible, phenomenal attack, they take no prisoners and submit an opus, which belongs to the best metal albums of the year. What also makes this album compelling is the varied ingredients that can be found in it – here you will discover also clean vocals, melodic lines and, of course, some suffocating atmospheres, where the listener is destined to drown! Gaerea- “Coma” (Season of Mist)

The Portuguese black metal sensations Gaerea have released their long awaited creation “Coma”. I must say that “Coma” to me felt like a milestone in the band’s career,as it shaped their sound and atmosphere. With tremolo packed tracks and gorgeously dark melodies, this album was definitely my favourite of the year. (Christina X)

Grand Magus – “Sunraven” (Nuclear Blast)

The Swedish power trio brings us another brilliant heavy metal album, inspired by the AngloSaxon/Norse mythology and more particularly Beowulf. Epic battles, honor, heroics forged in iron and steel and 3 metal warriors ready to dust off their helmets and swords, ready to take on the enemy! (Antonis Mantzavinos)

Hail Spirit Noir – “Fossil Gardens” (Agonia)

The most daring Greek band never cease to amaze with their ingenuity and inspiration. Having left aside previous pure prog and ambient explorations, while safeguarding the valuable insights derived from these travels, they revisit their black metal side through a different path. “Fossil Gardens” is a dark jewel, woven with harsh outbursts and seductive melodies. The black sound becomes spacey, trippy and delicate, like a sheer veil embellished with enlightened pearls. Once again, Hail Spirit Noir defy stagnation without fear, indicating a fruitful spirit that -for our own good- hasn’t revealed its full potential yet. (Alex Nikolaidis)

Ihsahn – “Ihsahn” (Candlelight)

Emperor mastermind Ihsahn has released his 8th solo studio album that is self titled. With a blackened prog metal undertone that includes symphonic like arrangements, the Ihsahn tone is still there, yet ever so evolving. Brutal and brooding , heavy yet haunting, this album is the best ihsahn has released in my opinion. (Christina X)

Innerwish – “Ash of Eternal Flame” (Reigning Phoenix Music)

Innerwish offers us eleven incredible songs, which all take us to a power metal paradise! We are dealing with exceptional compositions—very mature, wisely crafted, and so sophisticated! This band has its own way of making good music; they have a strong character, and this signature sound is celebrated in “Ash of Eternal Flame”. Stylistically, Innerwish plays in a Symphony X-inspired style, with many other radical influences from bands like Helloween, Kamelot, Blind Guardian, Queensrÿche, Stratovarius, etc. They don’t reinvent the power metal genre, but, as said before, their music is genuine, and their songs are unique. Judas Priest – “Invincible Shield” (Sony)

The best album since “Painkiller”, is here! The band has delivered a harder and meaner record for the older fans and the new ones sure will appreciate it, combining melody. The opening track, “Panic Attack”, was a great choice to introduce this record to the world. Rob Halford continues youthful, energetic and nothing will stop him and the band in the near future. Heavy riffs, fast paces, metallic engines roar from the first track to the last one. Judas Priest sounds aggressive, hungry and defies modern times. They sound new, fresh and modern as when they started 56 years ago. A BAND TO SEE LIVE IN 2025! (Raquel Miranda)

Kawir- “Kydoimos” (Soulseller)

Kawir tell the tale of Achilles and Iliad through the divinely dark sounds of Kydoimos. As Iliad is a personal favourite lyrical subject of mine, i was interested to see how the band dressed and lived it through their melodies and lyrics. This album is an experience, a chant heard from Aristos Achaion’s time. (Christina X)

Kerry King – “From Hell I Rise” (Reigning Phoenix Music)

Slayer’s guitarist debut album is a heavy-as-hell extravaganza, with grim guitars and inhumane beats. Kerry’s trademark solos are to die for in this record, whereas a display of thrash metal is heard. Pounding drums, wicked riffs, slamming bass are a must. Kerry and Paul are an insane duo with their riffs and beats. Like a phoenix arising from the ashes, or maybe I should say a demon arising from hell, Kerry King has returned from the battlefield victorious with a piece of art. (Raquel Miranda)

Långfinger – “Pendulum” (Welfare Sounds)

Definitely one of the finest moments in 2024, ‘Pendulum’ has proved itself as a fantastic album to listen to. Progressive. Classic or Heavy Rock. It really doesn’t matter. This one shines! Långfinger has absolutely delivered the goods. (Antonis Mantzavinos)

Nightwish- “Yesterwynde” (Nuclear Blast)

Nightwish. A band known for their beautiful storytelling throughout songs and their signature operatic- symphonic vocals. Yesterwynde to me felt like a story lived through tracks. A blend of one of this generation’s best singers, Floor Jansen and a dash of Holopainen’s compositions… this creation is a masterpiece. (Christina X)

Opeth – “The Last Will And Testament” (Reigning Phoenix Music)

The Swedish giants release a magnificent concept album, definitely one of the best for 2024. The growls are back (for good? We’ll see about that!) in a dark and gloomy atmosphere which brings us back to the 00s era of the band, perfectly mixing the heavy and melodic aspects of the band. (Antonis Mantzavinos)

After the release of the last album, “In Cauda Venenum”, many things have changed. The band has released one of the best records of the year and came back to the roots after nearly twenty years. Let’s say after “Watershed”. It’s not one of the best, but THE RECORD THAT THE FANS HAVE WAITED FOR SO LONG! Death metal growls and instrumentation that Mikael Åkerfeldt and the rest of the team have delivered are finally here. Not only that, but it has also psychedelic occult vibes, macabre accentuations and vibes. A TRUE WORK OF ART, FROM THE COVER TO THE LYRICS. (Raquel Miranda)

The Quill – “Wheel Of Illusion” (Metalville)

The Swedish rockers from Mönsterås has offered us a magical album in 2024. The ‘Wheel of illusion’ is brilliantly crafted and considered among the best in their catalogue. Diverse, well balanced and dynamic in its structure, with heavy and mellow aspects, it capitalizes on the band’s capacity to be on the forefront, creating great rock albums for the fans to enjoy. Riot V – “Mean Streets” (Reigning Phoenix Music)

The album pays homage to the legacy of Riot while simultaneously carving out its own identity, ensuring that the flame of metal tradition burns ever brighter in the hearts of fans old and new. “Mean Streets” is a hell of a classic metal album! Brimming with awesome metal anthems, this album stands as a rallying cry for metalheads everywhere, beckoning them to join the ranks of the faithful and revel in the power of true heavy/power metal. Rotting Christ – “Pro Xristou” (Season Of Mist)

Hellenic black metal pioneers Rotting Christ released “Pro Xristou” and got amazing feedback from the audience. The melodies of “The Apostate” remain in my brain as mantra. The gorgeous “Ygdrassil” that is inspired from norse mythology is a definite hit. Overall the creation was definitely a success. (Christina X)

Silent Winter – “Utopia” (No Remorse)

I am absolutely thrilled with “Utopia”—I love every song on the album. Take, for example, “We Burn the Future”, a track that could easily have been written by Helloween, or “Hellstorm” and “Silent Shadows”, which are irresistibly catchy. Then there’s “Hands Held High”, a compelling anthem that combines the style of Sabaton with the character of Iron Maiden. The album concludes gloriously with its title track—”Utopia” is a Euro power metal maelstrom that sweeps everything in its path. (Dimitris Zacharopoulos)

Spineless – “Dysphonia” (Submersion)

Spineless’ “Dysphonia” is a tale of musical freedom, standing at the crossroads of various rock and metal styles. Chrysa Tsaltampasi draws influences from alternative metal, doom metal, post-rock/metal, noise rock, and extreme metal, while showcasing both clean and brutal vocals. This experimentation yields a brilliant sonic outcome: an album of musical fantasy that will resonate with all fans of avant-garde rock and metal. The remarkable aspect of “Dysphonia”, beyond its experimental nature, is its abundance of compelling compositional ideas and fresh, catchy song structures. It’s no exaggeration to say that the vocal lines, melodies, and rhythms will stay with you long after listening. (Dimitris Zacharopoulos)

Triumpher – “Spirit Invictus” (No Remorse)

We needed a shocking new chapter in epic metal, something that would give us chills, and it came unexpectedly from a new Athenian band. Triumpher’s unmitigated triumph in “Spirit Invictus” shakes the foundations of the epic genre with an astonishing work of anthemic tunes and selective black metal strokes, reminiscent of Dissection. Apart from the undisputed quality of all songs, it’s the band’s soul and bravery, bursting from every verse, that make you feel a part of “Spirit Invictus”. That’s exactly what this album is: a strong feeling, rather than just a listening experience. Please, don’t miss this opportunity! (Alex Nikolaidis)

Ulcerate – “Cutting the Throat of God” (Debemur Morti)

Ulcerate reached their summit four years ago, but they’re not willing to let it go. In their new endeavor, the band’s art and creativity climax in a nightmarish maze, where you confront your inner self and worst fears, without hope of seeing the light. Ulcerate’s avant-garde character is provocatively immense, revealing a plethora of dense patterns and atmospheric soundscapes in a dissonant, sublime, and seemingly chaotic creation. However, Ulcerate control chaos, set rules, and arrange the slightest details according to their own standards. “Cutting the Throat of God” is another solitary apogee of frightening pursuit and far-reaching intelligence. Ozzy was inducted as a solo artist, making it the second time the institution honored him, following his 2006 induction as a member of BLACK SABBATH.

Osbourne was inducted into the Rock Hall by actor and TENACIOUS D frontman Jack Black, who hailed him as “the greatest frontman in the history of rock ‘n’ roll.” Black also reflected on the impact of the cover of Ozzy’s debut solo album, “Blizzard Of Ozz”, calling it “the most metal thing I had ever seen,” despite not yet knowing what metal was. He then explored Ozzy’s earlier work with BLACK SABBATH, exclaiming, “unholy shit, this guy invented heavy metal… the darkest, heaviest stuff the world had ever heard.

After Black’s induction speech, Osbourne accepted the award while seated on a throne. He told the crowd: “Well, here we are. You know what? I can’t believe I’m here myself. Let me get the thank yous out of the way, because I’m not going to bore you with a long, drawn-out fucking monologue. I’d like to thank whoever voted me into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame for my solo work. A great thank you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. My fans have been so loyal to me over the years, I cannot thank them enough. I’ve been fortunate over the years to play with some of the world’s greatest guitar players, drummers, bass players, and a few of them are here tonight. But I’ve got to say one thing for a guy by the name of Randy Rhoads. If I’d hadn’t have met Randy Rhoads, I don’t think I’d be sitting here now. And moreso more than that, my wife Sharon. Saved my life. And my grandbabies and my babies. I love them all.  So with all that, I’m gonna get on with the show and hand it back to Jack”.

An all-star performance followed the induction, featuring a backing band that included RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS drummer Chad Smith, METALLICA and former Ozzy bassist Robert Trujillo, producer and multi-instrumentalist Andrew Watt, and keyboardist Adam Wakeman. TOOL frontman Maynard James Keenan and Wolfgang Van Halen joined them for the opening song, “Crazy Train”. Next, Zakk Wylde and country star Jelly Roll took the stage for “Mama I’m Coming Home”, while Billy Idol stepped in for vocals on the final song, “No More Tears”, accompanied by his longtime guitarist, Steve Stevens.

Foreigner

Original vocalist Lou Gramm, keyboardist Al Greenwood, and bassist Rick Wills were in attendance to accept the award, while Mick Jones and Dennis Elliott were absent from the ceremony. Mick Jones’s daughter, Annabelle Dexter-Jones, was present to assist in accepting the honor. Former band members Ian McDonald and Ed Gagliardi passed away in 2022 and 2014, respectively.

Sammy Hagar had the honor of inducting FOREIGNER into the Rock Hall, expressing his sadness over Mick Jones’ absence by saying, “I’m really sad [Jones] isn’t here tonight. Mick, we love and miss you, and congratulations”. Hagar also praised FOREIGNER’s iconic track “Jukebox Hero,” calling it “one of the greatest rock vocal performances ever”.

In his acceptance speech, Gramm said: “First, I’d like to thank all of my former bandmates: Mick Jones, Ian McDonald, Al Greenwood, Dennis Elliott, Ed Gagliardi and Rick Wills for 30-plus years of great music and a wild ride. Now, right from the start, Mick and I hit it off in our first songwriting session. The chemistry for many of our biggest hits was the Jones-Gramm collaboration. Although the band went through some changes as time went on, I believe the original band encompassed what FOREIGNER was all about. As I think back about those times, I’m convinced that Ian McDonald and Ed Gagliardi, who have passed on to a better place, were pivotal players and personalities in FOREIGNER’s early success. Lastly, I’d like to close by thanking my friend and songwriting partner Mick Jones. Along with the many triumphs and accolades, we didn’t always agree about FOREIGNER’s musical directions, but all told we were very fortunate to have been in FOREIGNER together, and our music continues to stand the test of time”.

Wills said: “I love these guys and I love the guys who are doing what we did — and they’re still doing it today, 47 years later. It’s amazing. So, I want to thank you all, and thank the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame for giving us this opportunity to finally be Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame people. Thank you!”

Greenwood added: “Wow, and a very, very special thanks to Mick Jones, the founder, the visionary and the creative force behind FOREIGNER. We wish that you were here with us tonight. And to all of our fans who have been with us for 47 years, spanning generations: We love you all and we thank you”.

The night also featured an all-star performance of FOREIGNER’s music, including Sammy Hagar, Slash, Chad Smith, Demi Lovato, and Kelly Clarkson. Lovato, Slash, Smith, and FOREIGNER’s current touring band delivered “Feels Like The First Time”, with Lovato on lead vocals. Hagar joined the group for “Hot Blooded”, sharing vocal duties with current FOREIGNER frontman Kelly Hansen. Later, Kelly Clarkson and Lou Gramm teamed up for a duet of the classic “I Want To Know What Love Is”.

The doom metal pioneers reveal a brand new lineup for their upcoming new album and tours. PENTAGRAM have recently signed to Heavy Psych Sounds for the reissue of their “Review Your Choices” and “Sub-Basement” albums as well as the long-awaited follow-up to their 2015 full-length “Curious Volume”.

A new chapter dawns on the mighty PENTAGRAM, and the modern lore unfolds with the arrival of an electrifying new lineup. Around legendary frontman and band founder Bobby Liebling comes the melodic power of guitarist Tony Reed — known for fronting Seattle rock stalwarts Mos Generator as well as producing and engineering some of the modern heavy scene’s cornerstone releases from Electric Wizard to Blues Pills — and the sheer grooves of bassist Scooter Haslip, also of Mos Generator and former Saltine. The new lineup is rounded out by scene heavyweight and internationally renowned drummer Henry Vasquez of Saint Vitus, Spirit Caravan, The Skull/Legion Of Doom and Sourvein.

Recently signed to European powerhouse Heavy Psych Sounds Records, PENTAGRAM is currently entering the studio, poised to usher in a bold era with a new album and tours that will see the band traveling to distant ends of the globe.

The band’s return to the States will be elevated by a headline performance at Levitation 2024 on November 3rd in Austin, TX. The night’s stage will be honored by a live resurrection of hometown legends The Sword.

PENTAGRAM is set to reissue the “Review Your Choices” and “Sub-Basement” albums (originally released in 1999 and 2001 via Black Widow Records) in a fully remastered version engineered by Tony Reed, with preorders starting on July 2nd via www.heavypsychsounds.com.

PENTAGRAM is considered one of the very pioneers of the doom metal genre alongside Black Sabbath and Witchfinder General. Formed in 1971 in Virginia by Bobby Liebling (vocals) and Geof O’Keefe (drums) with Vincent McAllister on guitar and Greg Mayne on bass, the band was prolific in the underground scene of the 1970s, producing many demos and rehearsal tapes, but did not release their self-titled full-length album until reforming in the early 1980s with a new lineup. With vocalist Bobby Liebling remaining the only original band member throughout the band’s 50-year career span, Pentagram has welcomed many well-respected musicians from the heavy and doom metal scene, with members spending time in other acts such as Raven, The Obsessed, Place of Skulls, Internal Void, Spirit Caravan.

• Saturday Night Satan: The Greek occult metal newcomers have already released two lyric videos, “Rule With Fire” and “Lurking in the Shadows”, and their debut album, “All things Black”, is set for a mid-March 2024 release via Made of Stone Recordings.

• Lynx: Lynx is a quartet of heavy rock aficionados who pay homage to the guitar driven music of yesteryear while forging their own path forward. Founded in Gießen, Germany in early 2020, the band blends vintage influences with innovative creativity to carve out a distinctive sound.

• Dolmen Gate: Dolmen Gate, an epic metal ensemble hailing from Lisbon, Portugal, was established in 2021 with a mission to honor the legacy of sacred metal. Drawing inspiration from the esteemed tradition of Portuguese old-school bands, Dolmen Gate delivers a potent blend of pure steel, evoking the spirit of revered acts such as Manowar, Omen and Manilla Road.  The band has already left their mark with the release of the “Finis Imperii” demo, available digitally on Bandcamp.

• Witchunter: Founded in 2007, the Italians emerged as a manifestation of unbridled devotion to true metal. Drawing inspiration from various metallic influences, including NWOBHM, ’80s European heavy metal and speed metal, and the raw essence of ’70s hard rock, the band embarked on a sonic journey that defied the constraints of time. In a harmonious fusion, reminiscent of bands like Angel Witch, Jaguar, Tygers of Pan Tang, Saxon, Mercyful Fate, and Black Sabbath, Witchunter created a paradoxical time-warp where traditional metal received subtle yet refreshing twists.

• Sentry: After five years of contemplation, former Manilla Road members Bryan Patrick (vocals), Phil Ross (bass), and Andreas “Neudi” Neuderth (drums) made the decision to forge ahead and establish a new band, dedicated to carrying on the legacy of the epic metal masters. Joining them is Kalli Coldsmith on guitar. The band, named Sentry, made their debut with a two-track promo EP in 2023, featuring the songs “Heavensent” and “Black Candles,” before securing a deal with High Roller Records. Their self-titled debut album comprises six fresh compositions along with the two tracks from the promo EP.

• Night Demon: Night Demon, an American heavy metal band hailing from Ventura, California, has been a prominent figure in the resurgence of traditional heavy metal during the 2010s. Formed in May 2011 by vocalist/bassist Jarvis Leatherby and guitarist Brent Woodward, the band quickly gained recognition for their classic sound and energetic performances. Their debut EP, “Night Demon,” released in June 2013 on Reinig Records, received praise from the underground heavy metal scene. Shortly after, in September 2013, drummer Dusty Squires joined the lineup, solidifying the trio’s formation. Night Demon’s rise continued with their first festival appearance at Ragnarokkr Metal Apocalypse in April 2014, followed by a successful European tour later that year. Their momentum further grew as they joined Raven on the “ExtermiNation America Tour 2014.” In January 2015, Night Demon released their full-length debut album, “Curse of the Damned”, which garnered widespread acclaim and topped the WJCU Metal on Metal radio show’s listeners’ poll for the best album of 2015. Despite lineup changes, with guitarist Brent Woodward departing in January 2016 and Armand John Anthony joining as his replacement, Night Demon maintained their relentless touring schedule. Their second album, “Darkness Remains”, released in April 2017, further solidified their position in the metal scene, earning praise from critics and fans alike. Throughout 2017 and beyond, Night Demon embarked on numerous tours and festival appearances worldwide, showcasing their dedication to live performances. Their triple-live album, “Live Darkness”, captured the essence of their energetic shows and received acclaim upon its release in 2018. Night Demon’s continued success led to accolades such as being named the best “Up & Coming” band by German Metal Hammer magazine in September 2017 and earning album of the year honors from various publications. In 2020, Night Demon released a series of singles, followed by the compilation album “Year of the Demon” in March 2022, which featured tracks previously only available on limited-edition vinyl. Their third studio album, “Outsider”, released in March 2023, marked another milestone for the band. A concept album based on a movie script written by Leatherby, “Outsider” received positive reviews and was supported by extensive touring. Night Demon’s dedication to their craft and their unwavering commitment to the heavy metal genre continue to resonate with audiences worldwide, solidifying their status as torchbearers of classic metal.

08/03/2024 – MAIN FESTIVAL DAY 1

• Coven Japan: Coven Japan is a Japanese heavy metal band fronted by female vocalist Taka, drawing inspiration from the New Wave of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM), Mercyful Fate, and various other influences spanning 80s metal, hardcore punk, and 70’s hard rock. Their debut EP, “The Advent,” was released under Svart Records in Finland. Their first full-length album was unleashed by Greek label, No Remorse Records, in 2023.

• Crom: Originally conceived as a side project by Walter Grosse (1997), German heavy metal band Crom eventually became his primary focus after departing from Dark Fortress several years later. Crom has released three full-length albums and some demos, all crafted as a one-man endeavor. In 2018, Grosse brought guitarist Stefan Peyerl and drummer Thomas Hagl on board, transforming Crom into a fully-fledged band for the first time. The trio’s debut as a cohesive unit arrived in the form of the 2021 EP “Into the Glory Land”. Now, they’ve followed up with “The Era of Darkness”.

• Wade Black’s Astronomica: For three decades, Wade Black has triumphed and stayed metal recording and touring internationally in bands such as Crimson Glory, Leatherwolf, Seven Witches, Leash Law, and Chalice of Sin. Now he returns with Astronomica, which was the name of Crimson Glory’s album where he sang. Black is going to play songs from that album plus classics of Crimson Glory!

• Sacred Steel: Sacred Steel, the German heavy metal outfit, emerged in the 1980s as a collective of musicians already familiar within underground music circles. However, it was with the formation of Sacred Steel that they truly commanded attention and achieved significant success. Their journey to prominence included supporting renowned acts such as Blitzkrieg before catching the eye of Metal Blade Records, a milestone marked in April 1997, making them the inaugural German band to secure such a deal. Debuting with “Reborn in Steel” in October of the same year, Sacred Steel garnered widespread acclaim from both critics and fans alike, swiftly ascending the ranks to become one of Germany’s premier metal acts.

• Sumerlands: Sumerlands, a five-piece heavy metal ensemble hailing from Philadelphia, consists of seasoned musicians deeply influenced by 1970s hard rock and the classic power metal of the ’80s and ’90s. Renowned for their distinctive sound, which seamlessly melds vintage metal elements with contemporary production techniques, the band owes much of their sonic identity to guitarist Arthur Rizk. Their journey began with the release of a highly praised demo in 2014, ultimately leading to a record deal with Relapse Records for their self-titled debut album in 2016.

• Visigoth: Visigoth come from Salt Lake City, Utah, and are renowned for their masterfully crafted, fantasy-infused power metal reminiscent of iconic bands such as Manowar, Judas Priest, Dio, and Iron Maiden. Formed in 2010, the quintet comprises vocalist Jake Rogers, lead guitarist Leeland Campana, guitarist Jamison Palmer, bassist Matt Brotherton, and drummer Mikey Tee. Their musical journey commenced with the release of their debut EP, “The Final Spell,” in 2012, paving the way for a record deal with Metal Blade Records. In early 2015, their debut full-length album, “Revenant King,” captivated audiences with its epic storytelling and powerful melodies. Following up with their sophomore effort, “Conqueror’s Oath,” in early 2018, Visigoth continued to deliver their signature brand of hard-hitting metal to enthralled fans.

• Jack Starr’s Burning Starr: Always showing unyielding passion and undying dedication to its craft, a luminary of US metal, Jack Starr’s Burning Starr is a band, whose name has become synonymous with the pure essence of heavy metal. From their electrifying riffs to their soaring melodies, Jack Starr’s Burning Starr has forged a legacy that burns brightly in the hearts of metalheads worldwide. Formed in the mid 1980s by renowned guitarist Jack Starr, Burning Starr burst onto the scene with a ferocious energy that demanded attention. Starr, already known for his work with Virgin Steele and other notable acts, assembled a lineup of seasoned musicians who shared his vision of creating timeless, anthemic metal. With Jack Starr’s virtuosic guitar playing at the helm, Burning Starr blazed a trail through the metal landscape, drawing inspiration from the classic sounds of bands like Judas Priest, Rainbow and Dio. Their live performances, fueled by an electrifying energy, continue to captivate audiences around the globe. With the release of its latest album, “Souls of the Innocent” (2022), Burning Starr ignites the flames of metal once again, reminding us all of the power and passion that define the genre.

• Stygian Crown: Stygian Crown, a doom metal ensemble hailing from Southern California, reverently nods to the likes of Candlemass, Solitude Aeturnus, and Black Sabbath in their musical homage. Comprised of members from esteemed acts such as Morgion, Gravehill, and Morbid Eclipse, Stygian Crown emerges as a formidable force in the genre, drawing inspiration from the rich legacy of doom metal while forging their own distinctive path.

• Steel Inferno: Danish band Steel Inferno is a dynamic force in the realm of speed metal, epitomizing the resurgent wave of traditional heavy metal. With a reputation as local frontrunners in this revival, Steel Inferno unleashes a relentless onslaught of high-octane speed metal that electrifies audiences. Their acclaimed third full-length album, “Evil Reign”, stands as a testament to their ferocious musical prowess, delivering an unrelenting assault on the senses that leaves no listener unscathed. Prepare for an adrenaline-fueled experience characterized by powerful riffs, blistering solos, and an energetic live performance that ignites the stage.

• Ski: Known to his family as Norman Kiersznowski, Ski gained renown as the frontman of the New Jersey 80s metal outfit Deadly Blessing during their “Ascend From The Cauldron” debut era. With his blistering high-pitched vocals, Ski played a pivotal role in the success of Deadly Blessing. Athens will soon witness the iconic performance of the all-time classic album “Ascend from the Cauldron” in its entirety, featuring Ski’s electrifying vocals. In a testament to their enduring appeal, Cirith Ungol experienced a resurgence in the 21st century, as a new generation of metalheads rediscovered their catalog and championed their cause. In 2016, the band reunited for a series of live performances, delighting fans old and new with their electrifying shows. In 2018, Cirith Ungol released “Witch’s Game”, their first new song in over 25 years, signaling a triumphant return to the forefront of the metal scene. The track, accompanied by a visually stunning animated music video, captured the essence of Cirith Ungol’s epic sound, reigniting interest in the band and paving the way for future endeavors. The band’s latest album was titled “Dark Parade” and was released in 2023 via Metal Blade Records. It was an unparalleled triumph, as it encapsulated all the ingredients of the legendary  Cirith Ungol sound, a brave dose of US metal, doom metal, power metal and NWOBHM, which was more than super-satisfactory for the hungry fans! Cirith Ungol’s journey embodies the essence of heavy metal: a relentless pursuit of artistic vision, undeterred by the challenges of the industry. From their humble beginnings in California to their status as icons of underground metal, Cirith Ungol’s legacy endures as a beacon of creativity and authenticity in a genre often defined by its excesses.
