Lowsunday revisit their album “Low Sunday Ghost Machine”, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary, and from it we get the single “Innocence (2025 electro mix)”. So, what’s going on here? As with the entire new edition of the album, Lowsunday show clear respect for the past, but they approach it with their eyes firmly set on the future, avoiding any kind of destructive nostalgia. They present an electro version of the track that builds on the original while introducing changes, mainly through its electronic pulse. “Innocence” becomes modern within reasonable limits, and its new form feels even more attractive and seductive. All the elements of the song are still there, but they have been filtered through synths, transporting the track into a more futuristic version and era. Of course, Lowsunday preserve the dreamy and melancholic atmosphere of the song; they simply move forward stylistically. Beyond the shift in musical style, the creators make sure that the feeling and concept of “Innocence” remain untouched. They dress the song in new sonic clothes, but its body remains the same. For this reason, longtime fans of the band won’t be disappointed, while many new listeners are likely to be captivated by this fresh electro version. “Innocence” is now a song that will leave no one unsatisfied. Lowsunday make a strong artistic move by giving their material a modern sound. Listen to “Innocence” and you’ll be sure that its contemporary post-punk, shoegaze, and dreampop character will win you over.
