SABATON: ANNOUNCE NEW DELUXE EDITION OF ACCLAIMED ALBUM “LEGENDS”

2026-11-06T16:22:04Z

The Swedish masters of heavy metal Sabaton have expanded their acclaimed eleventh full-length album, “Legends”, with a brand new recharged Deluxe Edition out March 5, 2027 via Better Noise Music.

To crank up anticipation for its arrival, the group just dropped a new single + lyric video for “Berserker”.

”Berserker” nods to the group’s deep Scandinavian roots, lineage, and history. It channels the spirit of classic lore re-ignited with thunderous heavy metal. The single started to take shape a few years back, yet Sabaton opted to carefully perfect it and unleash it at the right moment — now. Powered up by cloud-shaking guitars and soaring vocals, it spins a myth all its own that’s as raw, riveting, and rapturous as the band’s best material.

It hits with the force of a Viking fleet and leaves an undeniable mark straight out of the gate.

The official video for “Berserker”, featuring actor Eric Roberts, will arrive on Monday, November 9 at 3pm CET/9am EST/6am PST.

The animated visual serves as the perfect accompaniment for ”Berserker.”. It revisits the legend of the Berserker at Stamford Bridge, co-mingling two realities of the present and the memory. Continuing what has become a tradition of blockbuster-worthy visuals, you need to see it to believe it. All hail Sabaton!

About the song, bassist Pär Sundström said, “‘Berserker’ breathes Scandinavian influences, so the Viking theme came naturally. It’s close to our own roots and our own history, and that gave the song a special meaning for us.”

The news of the deluxe edition arrives as the band embarks on its first U.S. tour in four years. “LEGENDS DELUXE” will be available on streaming, download and various physical formats: Deluxe CD, 3CD Deluxe Digibook, Amazon exclusive Deluxe CD, 2LP Deluxe Vinyl, 2LP Amazon exclusive Deluxe Vinyl, 2LP Berserker Edition Deluxe Vinyl (Indie Exclusive), 2LP Stephen the Great Edition Deluxe Vinyl (Indie Exclusive) and a very special box set, which includes a variety of exclusive formats and content. There is something here for every Sabaton fan.

ANRIE – “STORMING” (2026, SELF-RELEASED)

2026-11-06T16:09:48Z

Independent rock artist Anrie returns with “Storming”, a powerful modern rock single that masterfully blends raw blues-rock grit with sophisticated, melodic elegance. Built around deeply expressive, blues-inspired guitar riffs and driving rhythms, the track delivers an uplifting and universally relatable message about facing life’s inevitable challenges, overcoming adversity and finding the inner strength to move forward. “Storming” carefully balances these traditional bluesy roots with a polished, contemporary rock sound, creating an accessible yet highly energetic auditory experience. Anrie’s vocal performance is undoubtedly the track’s most compelling asset. Her exceptionally rich and beautiful voice infuses the song with its distinct character, while the intricate melodic arrangements ensure the listener remains engaged from start to finish. The dynamic, guitar-driven passages add an essential layer of punch, establishing a perfect equilibrium between raw sonic power and memorable melody. The seamless interplay between the heavy rhythm section and her soaring vocals keeps the momentum shifting, making the track feel like an anthemic journey. Overall, “Storming” stands as a solid, thoroughly enjoyable modern rock release that beautifully showcases Anrie’s impressive vocal abilities and immense songwriting potential. While it may not completely reinvent the boundaries of the genre, it delivers a potent dose of authentic energy, infectious melodies and a positive, empowering message that makes it well worth checking out. It marks a promising, confident step forward for a rising independent artist who clearly has something profound to say. Just taste this single and get ready for Anrie’s next studio move!

DEATH ANGEL: NEW SINGLE RELEASED (“THE NEVER WAS”)

2026-11-05T16:39:57Z

San Francisco Bay Area thrash metal veterans DEATH ANGEL have unveiled a new single, “The Never Was”, along with an official lyric visualizer. The release comes as the band gears up for an extensive international touring schedule, featuring upcoming dates across Europe and Australia, as well as their traditional annual holiday shows.

Packed with the speed, precision and raw aggression that have characterized their sound for over four decades, “The Never Was” is another powerful dose of uncompromising thrash metal, reaffirming DEATH ANGEL’s status as one of the genre’s most enduring and influential bands.

Vocalist Mark Osegueda comments: “We’re excited to unleash a brand new DEATH ANGEL track called ‘The Never Was’! Lyrically, it’s inspired by self-centered people that feel the need to make every conversation, tragedy, including someone else’s success or even death, all about themselves. Without fail, they do it time and again. They truly think they are glorious in every way. Especially now with social media, they have a bigger outlet and platform to glorify what they feel is their brilliance and/or opinion on the matter while always circling back to themselves. Everyone knows someone like this, whether it be in business, sports, acting and most definitely in music! The thing that amazes me most is that most of these exhaustingly annoying egomaniacs have no idea that they are doing it. However, it is very apparent to everyone around them.

“This song is basically the thrash metal bastard spawn of ‘You’re So Vain’ by Carly Simon. As it was inspired by a couple of actual people that are too damn self-absorbed to ever realize collectively they were my muse. In the ugliest way! We all know someone like this. And I just wanted to express my disgust in that human trait the best way possible! Angry music!

“See you on the road! Thrash!”

The official lyric visualizer for “The Never Was” features original drawings and video production by Tamara Llenas of Aimed & Framed, with single cover artwork created by Mark Richards.

Armed with new material, DEATH ANGEL are set to hit the road again, bringing their explosive live show to audiences across Europe and Australia in a highly anticipated series of performances. The band will also keep their annual holiday show tradition alive, treating fans to their trademark high-energy performances before wrapping up the year.

CORONER, DEPRESSIVE AGE, CRYPTIC SHIFT – GAGARIN 205, ATHENS, GREECE – 30/10/2026

2026-11-05T15:14:32Z

October’s concert calendar was set to close with a night we knew would give the month a fitting send-off. It was a special occasion for followers of this side of heavy music: three bands from three countries, challenging familiar forms while keeping thrash at the core of their aggressive, technical sound. Cryptic Shift represented the younger generation still shaping its identity, while Depressive Age and Coroner brought historical weight, with the German veterans making their first-ever appearance in Greece and the latter returning to Athens after fifteen years, now with a new member completing the band’s emblematic trio. All these factors made this concert a must-see event for any fan of the genre.

photos by Eleni Giamouridi

Cryptic Shift were the first to take the stage, bringing a highly technical form of death/thrash that immediately set them apart. Their music is built around constant shifts in rhythm, tempo and structure, often moving into unusual and almost disorienting territory, while retaining a strongly aggressive core. It was clear from the crowd’s response that they already have listeners here, with the positive reaction coming from people who seemed familiar with their material rather than simply welcoming an opening act. The band approached the set with confidence and professionalism. There was not much movement onstage, perhaps partly because their music demands a certain level of concentration, but that did not mean the performance lacked energy. The vocalist remained impressively steady while also handling the guitar, while the whole band carried out the demanding parts with precision and force. The sound was good overall, although a little more clarity would have helped bring out the full detail of such intricate arrangements. Their music may not be immediately accessible to someone encountering it for the first time, especially without a taste for highly progressive and technical extreme metal, and it is not always easy for the compositions to get someone on first listen. For those drawn to this kind of challenging, constantly shifting approach, however, Cryptic Shift offered a very rewarding opening performance, making a positive impression in general, proving to be more than a decent opening act.

Depressive Age followed, and from the moment they stepped onstage, their appearance felt like a long-awaited meeting finally coming to pass. There was a sizeable part of the audience that had clearly come specifically to see them, beyond those already present for the other bands. With a substantial discography and a distinctive musical identity, they have built a following that may be selective, but is evidently deeply attached to what they represent. The band seemed to recognize that response and returned it with a nearly excellent performance, supported by a very good sound and solid, tight playing throughout. Their set drew from all their albums, combining a great variety of material with carefully chosen songs that they clearly knew were particularly loved by their audience, delivering some special moments too, for the more dedicated ones. The flow between the changes was excellent, giving the performance a remarkably unified character that carried many tastes, while the band’s own distinctive atmosphere was enhanced by the lighting and translated beautifully into the venue. There was plenty of energy and movement from the band, with Jan Lubitzki standing out as an imposing, unmistakable frontman, carrying himself with an almost unshakable presence. What also stood out was the authenticity they brought to the stage. Despite the subtle industrial elements within their music, Depressive Age carried a broader metal and hard rock attitude, giving the performance a classic feel without making it sound dated or predictable. Their connection with the audience was understated but genuine, and the crowd remained highly engaged throughout. Even listeners who did not seem particularly familiar with their style were gradually drawn into the atmosphere they created. By the time they finished, the venue had filled considerably and the feeling had reached exactly the right level for the headliners.

The wait for the headliners felt longer than it actually was, but the anticipation finally came to an end as the lights went down and the intro, “Oxymoron”, filled the venue. Coroner took the stage with “Consequence”, followed by “Sacrificial Lamb”, both tracks from their recent album, Dissonance Theory, whose material – as expected – stood comfortably alongside the older songs. The crowd responded enthusiastically, moving and singing along, although many followed the musicians closely rather than reacting with the movement of a more straightforward thrash show. The sound remained full and powerful, even as it became rougher and louder towards the later part of the set. Ron Royce delivered a strong, credible vocal and bass guitar performance, retaining the distinctive edge central to Coroner’s identity, while Tommy Vetterli appeared at ease, handling the demanding guitar parts and characteristic solos with confidence. The new drummer also proved more than capable, playing powerfully and making an impressive impact in several passages, while fitting naturally into the band’s chemistry. Together, the trio maintained the tightness and precision that have always defined Coroner, with the additional keyboard elements supporting the sound without taking away from its core power. The set continued in full-power mode with songs like “Divine Step”, “Serpent Moves”, “Masked Jackal” and “Metamorphosis”, before “Grin” brought the main set to a close with its industrial, claustrophobic yet mesmerizing atmosphere, creating a peak in a rollercoaster of various expressions of their entity. The encore reached back to the band’s earlier material with “Die by My Hand” and “Reborn Through Hate”, solidifying the flawless performance we’ve just experienced. Though their interaction with the audience remained understated throughout – as their Swiss “class” would suggest, the band clearly enjoyed themselves, just as the crowd enjoyed the show. Arriving with the confidence of a new album that has already received a warm response, they had every reason to be satisfied and it showed. As the members gradually left the stage, the ambient sound continued, with the live keyboardist the last to leave and offer a final goodbye. It was a performance worthy of Coroner’s name, one that effortlessly cemented their relevance in the present, while proudly carrying their important legacy.

All in all, this was a night that delivered everything it had promised, and perhaps even more. The choice of bands was particularly well judged, bringing together three distinct expressions of a shared musical spirit, each with its own character and flavor. It made for a carefully curated bill that offered variety without losing its coherence, and the audience clearly appreciated the full range of what was on offer. It was equally rewarding to see people approach the event with an open mind, ready to enjoy each band on its own terms. The quality of the performances matched the expectations, and the night came to a close with the feeling that everyone had got exactly what they came for. See you at the next one.

FORBIDDEN: DRUMMER CHRIS KONTOS EXITS BAND

2026-11-05T13:54:11Z

Drummer Chris Kontos has officially parted ways with San Francisco Bay Area thrash metal veterans FORBIDDEN after three years with the band.

On Wednesday, November 4, Kontos released the following statement via social media: “This does not come easy for me. I have been trying to not have to do this and resolve many issues with FORBIDDEN for quite some time now. I have expressed my concerns to the band members as well as our management, the legal team and accounting. Financial integrity, a lack of transparency of accounting, ongoing business decisions I did not agree with, or was not made aware of or told about till after the fact resulting in conflicts with the band. These issues have become irreconcilable. I have decided that I can no longer continue as a part of the band.

“I am stepping down as the drummer for FORBIDDEN effective immediately. I wish the band all the best moving forward.

“I am incredibly proud of the music we created together including the new album and videos. I have never worked harder on a project in my life. I put my heart and soul into every bit of the work. I’m truly grateful to the fans for nearly four years of incredible support.

“I want to thank BLKIIBLK Records as well as everyone that helped the band over my time in FORBIDDEN. This includes past band members, road crew, sound engineers, tour management, production companies and promoters. I’m very grateful and have a ton of appreciation and gratitude for you all. You know who you are. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

“I’m looking forward to what life has to offer moving forward. New opportunities and adventures.

“I respectfully ask for privacy at this time and will have no further comment.

“Thank you to everyone for your ongoing support”.

The remaining members of FORBIDDEN released a separate statement, revealing that Kontos’s departure had come as a surprise to them.

“Everyone in FORBIDDEN wants to wish Chris Kontos the absolute best in his future endeavors,” the band said. “We found out about his leaving the band the same way everyone else did. A social media post.

“What we created together with this album will hopefully stand the test of time. Chris was an integral part of the process.

“We wish him nothing but happiness”.

CHILDREN OF BODOM: “HATE CREW – A VISUAL HISTORY” TO BE RELEASED IN APRIL 2027

2026-11-05T13:48:16Z

In April 2027, “Children of Bodom Hate Crew – A Visual History”, an extensive visual book documenting the history of Finnish metal band CHILDREN OF BODOM, will be released. Compiled by Finnish music journalist and author Timo Isoaho, the 240-page publication covers more than three decades of the band’s history – from their early beginnings under the name Inearthed to their international success as CHILDREN OF BODOM.

The carefully designed book features numerous previously unpublished photographs, personal memories, interview excerpts and rare archival material. Its contents include backstage passes, setlists, childhood photographs of the band members, early demo artwork, and insights into recording sessions, tours and life behind the scenes.

Beyond the band’s musical development, the book also explores the personal relationships between its members, their shared experiences and the growth of their international fan community, known as the “Hate Crew”.

In 2025, Timo Isoaho published the successful biography “Children of Bodom”, in which the band members told their story in detail for the first time. The biography covered both the band’s rise to international success and the internal conflicts that eventually led to their breakup in 2019.

“Hate Crew – A Visual History” is designed as a standalone publication while also serving as an extensive visual companion to the biography.

CHILDREN OF BODOM are among Finland’s most internationally successful metal bands. Combining melodic death metal with technically demanding guitar work and influences from various metal genres, the band helped shape the international metal scene for more than two decades. Throughout their career, CHILDREN OF BODOM released ten studio albums and received numerous awards, including three Finnish Emma Awards and several gold and platinum certifications.

The book will be published in April 2027 by Finnish publisher Like Kustannus, with Finnish and English editions released simultaneously.

The English-language edition will be available exclusively through the official CHILDREN OF BODOM Hate Crew Store, operated by German independent record label Reaper Entertainment. Reaper Entertainment manages the band’s official online store and is responsible for the worldwide direct-to-consumer distribution of the English edition through the shop.

BLACK REUSS – “DEATH” (2026, SELF-RELEASED)

2026-11-05T12:33:40Z

Black Reuss, the solo project of musician and producer Maurizio Dottore, released the fourth and final album of his tetralogy a few months ago, following “Metamorphosis”, “Journey” and “Arrival”. Entitled “Death”, the record is described as a gothic rock/metal album, also embracing doom metal and dark rock elements. Within this context, “Death” deserves to be hailed as a musical opus of great depth, phenomenal density and irresistible inner beauty. The main ingredients of Black Reuss’ new songs are haunting melodies and relentless riffs that make you crave another listen. This is how you begin to appreciate the album’s true value and the qualities of a rewarding record that slowly gets under your skin. Naturally, Maurizio Dottore’s vocals take center stage, while the lush guitar work and sophisticated keyboard textures provide the perfect backbone for “Death”. Black Reuss doesn’t reinvent gothic metal, but the album’s impact is massive. You find yourself immersed in its musical universe, gradually sinking into its dark majesty. Despite their shadowy elegance, Maurizio Dottore’s compositions won’t bring you down, as there is always a light at the end of the tunnel. Tracks such as “Endgame”, “Phoenix”, “Death”, “Reborn” and “Elysium” are genuine dark gems, taking you on a fascinating and adventurous journey. In my opinion, “Death” is the best Black Reuss album to date, a gothic metal seminar that will stay with you long after the final note. Give it a listen and get ready for plenty of moments of excitement and enthusiasm. What a fantastic way to conclude this ambitious project!

THY ART IS MURDER: DEBUT NEW VOCALIST WITH SINGLE “SQUEEZE”

2026-11-04T13:01:56Z

Thy Art Is Murder have entered their next era of brutality with new vocalist Jerry Grimefeld, who makes his debut via the single “Squeeze” out now via Human Warfare. Before pulling the final curtain on touring for 2026, the band will officially introduce Grimefeld to Australian audiences via a quick run of intimate shows in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. In February 2027 the band will return to Europe with a special Underplay Tour. Expect complete and utter mayhem.

TAIM’s new single “Squeeze” feels like a disorientating journey through a deranged carnival funhouse. Creepy, manic and savage, the track is a vicious introduction to Grimefield’s vocal ferocity and merely an appetizer to what the band have been cooking up in the studio between tours.

A familiar face in Australian heavy music and hip hop circuits, Grimefeld’s arrival in TAIM came without warning. Earlier this year, he quietly stepped into the vocalist role, playing his first show with the band at Life’s A Beach festival in Melbourne before his full initiation on the European summer festival circuit.

Without formal introduction or fanfare, TAIM’s new vocalist set the internet ablaze, with the rest of the world asking “who the f**k is Jerry Grimefeld?”. Ripping through set after set, Grimefeld commanded the microphone and caused carnage in the pit as though he had been reigning over the blood throne since day one. Metal Hammer described TAIM’s Radar Festival set as a “mass of dropped jaws and flailing limbs”, Distorted Sound Magazine added that he “slotted into his role seamlessly with impressive ferocity”, while Hive UK marvelled at the “energetic frontman with insane gutturals and control of his vocals”.

Of his new post, Grimefield says: “Thy Art Is Murder has influenced me more than any other band in the world. Hate sent me down the path I’m on today, so being part of this band now is surreal. I’m blessed to be here, and I can’t wait to show everyone what we’ve been working on. We’re about to get ignorant with it”.

The Squeeze tour will mark Grimefield’s first headline run on home soil. The band will rip through intimate venues, bringing the next era of TAIM within arm’s reach for a ruthlessly up-close and visceral experience.

In February 2027 the shared carnage of Thy Art Is Murder and Jerry Grimefeld will continue in Europe on an intimate run of club shows. Ticket presale will start on 6th November at 10am UK time, don’t expect it to last long!

BAND OF SPICE: NEW ALBUM AND NEW SINGLE ANNOUNCED ON RIPPLE MUSIC

2026-11-04T12:48:31Z

Swedish heavy metallers BAND OF SPICE have signed to Ripple Music for the release of their new album “Fathers in the Sky” on January 22nd, and deliver the first single “Weak And Dangerous” today.

Band of Spice is back with a new album that promises to take listeners on a journey through the cosmos and straight into the dark alleys of the human psyche. Blending the ferocity of classic heavy metal with the raw, unpolished energy of alternative grit, their new album Fathers in the Sky is a thunderous clash of sound. Lyrically, the album explores a fascinating duality, weaving together themes of extraterrestrial existence and the gritty reality of everyday life. “We explore the strange behavior of humanity,” the band explains.

The opening and closing tracks serve as bookends to this theme, dealing with the possibility that we are not alone in the universe, and perhaps never have been. Between these cosmic pillars, Fathers in the Sky dives deep into the strange, often contradictory behavior of humanity, touching on subjects ranging from war and hate to hopes and dreams. Prepare for a sonic collision of interstellar proportions!

Guitarist and singer Christian “Spice” Sjöstrand has been writing songs and recording music since the 1980s. He first played locally with the band Aeon in his hometown of Värnamo, Sweden, and from 1993 to 2001 he was a member of the Halmstad-based Spiritual Beggars together with Michael Amott (Arch Enemy, Carcass). The successful album Ad Astra led to international tours and major festival appearances alongside bands such as Slayer, Pantera, and Queens of the Stone Age. When Iron Maiden made their triumphant comeback in 2000, Spiritual Beggars, together with Entombed, were invited to join them as support on the subsequent European tour. Since then, Spice has also released albums and toured with The Mushroom River Band, Kayser, and My Regime.

In 2006, Spice formed the solo group Spice and the RJ Band, later renamed Band of Spice, which has since become his longest-running project. The music spans a wide spectrum of rock, both heavier and softer, and no two albums sound alike. Attentive ears may pick up influences from artists as diverse as Black Sabbath, Thin Lizzy, John Frusciante, Dire Straits, and Monster Magnet. Now back in Värnamo, where it all once began, Spice has recruited an experienced lineup of musicians to back him up for the release of their upcoming new album, to be issued this winter on Ripple Music.
